|HD_RIDER||Re: Missamier McCoy|
The spelling of her name as "Misanier" was taken from a "general Affidavit" that was filed on 23 December, 1887 in regards to the pension of Corp. Josiah McCoy. The Justice of the Peace (Jeremiah Hartsoch)spelled her name "Misanier" at the top of the page, then "Mesanier" at the signature line, where she made her mark of "X", signifying that she was illiterate. Her mark was witnessed by two signatories. It's no wonder that her name appears in different forms. If you would send me an email address, I would be happy to send you a copy of the affidavit for your own perusal. I would have to assume that the legal document containing her personal statement under oath carries more weight than the death notice of the daughter.

Thank you for the information. I have seen her name spelled several different ways, probably due to it being rather unusual. I will make the suggested changes, pending further possible corrections. She is actually a "Great Grand Aunt" of mine, you would think I'd have the names right....

Thank you. That was very kind and I appreciate your efforts.
|Frank Merriman||RE: Coon Family of Coons Run|
Hi, thanks a lot for all of this insight. I know that Joseph and Elizabeth had a large family but I never got around to tracking down all of the children. So, it's great to hear from you.
1834 sounds like the same year that I have for Joseph's land grant. I haven't found very many Coons who migrated to Brown Co., IN. There was a George Coon who came later and is related some way. There's also a Skinner family who settled near Ruth Coon Tutterow. Phillip and Hannah Coon Skinner lived just a couple of miles away. Hannah may be related some way.
I doubt if Kansas has a lot of records prior to 1900. Sometimes, military records will have additional information about family members. I know I found a few odd pieces of information that way. A lot of older graves are unmarked. Maybe they were once marked with wooden crosses. You might try old newspapers or funeral home records if there were any around at that time. I just looked at something that said the population of Laclede in 1910 was 76.

If I may I will use the photo showing Jimmy, Jim, W J and James Eldridge.
Please let me know if this is not OK and I will remove the photo. I trust I have the caption correctly shown.
I should also clarify that I am not knowingly connected by 'blood' to this Eldridge family, it's just one of a hundred or so I've researched as part of my one name genealogical study.
Finally I only have access to the Library Edition of Ancestry meaning I am unable to see Ancestry member trees.

My grandmother was Hazel Weese m to Ralph Snyder. Your knowledge of the Weese family may be able to help me find when and where my grandmother died,and where she is buried. Thank-you. Suzan
