Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started "traipsing around cemeteries" a couple years back when I inherited my grandmother's penchant for genealogy. Yes, I really do talk like this. ;-) I've been at the genealogy racket since 2007-ish and have traced my mother's side back to when they got off the boat in the late 19th century. My father's side is a little more tricky since some of them date back to the Revolution and just after.

Once I moved back to Pennsylvania, I realized two things: 1) my particular corner is rife with history and 2) being a rural area, no one wants to travel here just for a couple pictures. So, I've offered up my cell phone camera and data entry skills to the cause of recording out-of-the-way cemeteries. I'm just getting started, but I'll do what I can.

Note: All transfer requests will be considered, except for the following surnames: Brunner, Grosjean, Kinzler, Hall, Dailey, Rees. Those are most definitely my family. If you believe that you are more closely related to a particular relative & would like the transfer, please contact me to discuss it.

Note(2): SACs are greatly appreciated. I don't check my email as often as I used to, so please allow the full 30 days before resending or sending to edit at findagrave.com

Note(3): Photos posted by me were taken by me, unless captioned otherwise. All rights are reserved by the original photographers.

Important: As of July 2014, I will be taking time away from Find A Grave. Please use the appropriate email to contact Find A Grave admins for any and all edits. Thank you!

Your Memorial #49541792
Regarding Information on Memorial #49541792 for Samuel W. Houk at Presbyterian Church of Portersville, Butler Co., Pennsylvania.
The military service information for Samuel W. Houk buried at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville is incorrect. That service information is that of Samuel Houk, Memorial #18778110, buried at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, which is documented on his headstone there and in the Military Service Record and Pension file I received from the National Archives. I have tried to correct this error with the Butler County(PA) Veterans Affairs office where this information persists in their card file! The soldier Samuel Houk (1837-1904;( married to Mary A. Booher)is the soldier, according to federal military records, wounded in the second assault against Fort Wagner on July 18,1863, as a member of the 76 PA Vol. Infantry. His grave has a government military headstone and a GAR flag holder
I have found no service record for Samuel W. Houk (1833-1865)Memorial #49541792. I have informed Mr. Sumner (SAC) of the same error. Please contact me for additional details if you like. Sincerely, Miriam Houk

Portersville Pres. Cemetery
I believe I have asked you a couple of times if you will transfer the Burnsides buried in the above cemetery to me. I have informaton about them that would be helpful to others. If I do not hear back from you within a reasonable time - I am going to link them myself.
