 | Bachrach Family Hi, I am the Jewish Historian for the Roanoke, VA. And yes two children of Isaac Bachrach are buried in the Jewish Cemetery. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.Added by Laurie on Mar 04, 2013 7:32 PM | | | Alan Bachrach
 | RE: Isaac Bachrach You mean there is a plot in the City Cemetery still owned by the Bachrach family with no graves? I never heard about that!. I know that the site at Temple Emanuel Cemetery had (I think) room for 12 graves. There is about enough room for two more graves between my grandparents (Fannye and Calvin) and the two young children (who are siblings of my grandfather, Irene and May). It was my understanding that Manis and Violet Hoffman Shapiro were going to be buried there. (Violet was the daughter of Irene Bachrach Hoffman). However, Violet died first and she was buried in the Shapiro Plot. So those two grave sites are also empty. What made you interested in the history of the Jewish community of Roanoke? | | | Alan Bachrach
 | RE: Isaac Bachrach Billie,
Thanks for writing. I can't verify this story, but it is my understanding that the two children were initially buried elsewhere and then my great grandfather Isaac purchased the land which is now Temple Emanuel Cemetery. The children were moved to this cemetery and are buried in the plot. I have photographed the tombstones and the photo can be seen on Findagrave. The graves of these two children are the oldest in the Cemetery. Alan | | | JeniB
 | Please connect these brothers Find A Grave Memorial# 25132902 Find A Grave Memorial# 25132894
These are the markers for Walter James "Jimmy" Anderson Jr. and Rexie D. Anderson. They are brothers and I wondered if you could please connect them here? They are buried side by side at the cemetery and I thought it might be fitting (and in case anyone else was looking)to connect them here.
Thank youAdded by JeniB on Dec 23, 2012 1:29 AM | | | JeniB

 | RE: Thomas Preston Cole Sr We most certainly have a linkage to the same family but mine is not a direct line relationship. Thomas Preston Cole was my great grandmother's [Susan Anna (Mitchell)Cole] second spouse. That would make him my step great grandfather. I have no actual blood relationship to the man.
We really do not know anything about Susan's first relationship other than the fact that it produced my grandfather, William Cardell Mitchell. Susan never married William's father. I am uncertain whether or not Mitchell was even Susan's birth surname. It is believed that Susan was taken in by a family of the name Mitchell at a very young age and that Susan adopted the use of their name since that is the only family she ever knew.
I therefore am at a brick wall regarding Susan's first relationship and any earlier ancestry in my paternal line.
