Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born 1946, Chandler OK; US Army, Vietnam, 1968-69; Ph.D. University of Kansas, 1976; current residence: Tokyo, Japan.

Author of two books of family history: "North of Deep Fork: An Oklahoma Farm Family in Hard Times," which deals with Lincoln County; and "The Fate of Bones: Adventures in Family History," which follows the Pound/Pounds family from Virginia in the mid-1600s to Oklahoma at the start of WWII. Available from Amazon.

I have just published a group of non-fiction stories about early-day killings in Lincoln Co. Oklahoma called "The Lonesome Death of Billie Grayson." It has just appeared (April 2016) and is available on Amazon.com or from links on the website below.

I run a Lincoln County Oklahoma website at http://oakgrove-pleasantridge.blogspot.jp. The Table of Contents for the new book is posted there. And I've made a new website for McCorkle Cemetery in Lincoln Co. because the FAG contributor who controls most of the sites there suffers from terminal inertia: http://mccorklecem.blogspot.jp/.

Right now, I am working on a book about the vanished village of Clematis, south of Davenport in Lincoln Co. It's not by chance that its rise and fall coincides with that of the Oklahoma Socialist Party.

RE: Matthew Fooks # 131189829
Hi Wayne. Mary Mariah Dailey was my great-grandfather Samuel Dailey's sister. I'm fascinated by her story and by Matthew Fooks. My side of the family has very little information on them, aside from hearing my grandpa mention once about his aunt Mary being killed. I'm excited to hear about your book; I'll be ordering a copy. :)

Covington Hall Metairie
We have walked this large cemtery several times and Have not located your family Memeber. We would love to find him for you. If there is anyway for you to call the cemtery and ask which section Covington is in that would be very helpful. Thanks and if you can't call we will keep searching.

RE: Hannah Ford
Yes, it is Shepard/Sheppard. Her parents, according to several trees on Ancestry, were Thomas Sheppard and Betsy Pope, both born around 1780. She and many other Ford and Sheppard ancestors are buried at Zion Church in Rockingham, NC. Are you also a descendant of Hanna and Jacob. I have a copy of the only known photograph of Hannah. It is old and faded, but if you will email me, I will send it to you. My email is lindalockamy16@yahoo.com. Thanks for the inquiry.---Linda

RE: James Toone # 32817239
Hi Wayne,

Just sent you an email regarding the Charles Lewis fella.

In answer to your question, NO, I never received any replay from the submitter of that memorial. Each & every person that I've contacted about that info has consistently failed to have any documented evidence to back it up. Most of them have just copied over from other databases, which I don't consider as research.

Many years ago I did speak with a Mike Toon who had posted this same info, and he also had no documentation, just that it was what was told to him.

Not having been there at the time, I can only state what I find in prime source records. That our Toone family likely came from England, that is fairly obvious to me, given the life of James Toone, the immigrant Virginia Planter.

Location of Dudley Cemetery
I have a relative interred in the Dudley Cemetery Lincoln County, Oklahoma. You have listing #46954396 and from Milliebelle #29954606

Do you know the exact location of this cemetery? I am sure that no African Americans were allowed to be buried in the Greens Cemetery Carney, OK unless these are both the same.

Someone has established a duplicate memorial for this person in Gittings Mound Cemetery # 64093575, where I believe he may be actually buried. I thought you would want to check.
