I'm working to establish the genealogical link of every soul buried in the Manning #1 cemetery in Lawrence co Arkansas - it is my family cemetery. Also, I took an inventory of the Old American Cemetery in Kodiak Alaska and feel that I should share it for other researcheers and historical purposes.|
If in doing the Manning Cemetery project I have entered an ancestor's memorial that is more closely related to you than me, I will be happy to transfer that memorial to you for updates. I'm just trying to keep everyone in the cemetery listed on Find-A-Grave which isn't easy since I don't live in Arkansas. I am also happy to transfer any memorial in the Old American Cemetery.
If you know of a relationship in either cemetery that I do not have linked, let me know and if I have the ability, I will link them. I took the original cemetery inventories in 1994 (Manning) and 1999 (Old American).
I have been doing genealogical research since 1991 and have joined 3 lineage groups: DAR, USD1812, UDC.

|LJ Gillihan||RE: Hello cousin|
Hi Vickie! yes I am the great-grandson of Thomas "Jack" Gillihan, the brother of Henry Newton Gillihan. Jack moved from Izard in 1922, to near Bono, where he was a Church of Christ preacher, schoolteacher, and the Mayor of Bono, AR from 1948-1958. My Grandfather (Leonard Edison Gillihan) told me that his "Uncle Henry" played the fiddle, and had played with Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys for a time, back in the 30's or 40's. Did you know about that? I saw on Rootsweb.com where you had posted that Uncle Henry was your G-Grandfather. I have red hair and so does my brother and my father did as well. It's great to meet you! please keep in touch. your cousin, Larry Joseph "Joey" Gillihan

Thanks so much for the reply! That's more info than I've ever managed before. But of course more questions arise. I wonder if she had children? I wonder if Chuck Sanders was her biological grandchild? If she had a daughter who married a Sanders. hmm. No luck on a few quick searches. Chuck and his sister Addy were raised by Kitty from a young age, but I don't know why.
I've got Smiths on both my mother and father's sides and I thought THAT was tough! lol

I'm looking for info on Kitty Manning. All I have is a newspaper clipping from WW2 about my father-in-law Charles Edward Sanders, who was then in the coast guard. He died in 1998. In the article he gives a shout out to his grandmother, Kitty Manning, from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. I've found her date of death, April 9, 1964. If you, or anybody, knows of her, I hope they'll let me know!

This was my first attempt. I'll take another if you like. The headstone was covered with moss. I'll have to ask if it is permitted to clean it off. I'll go back out and get another when there is a break in the weather.

I've added the requested note to Frank Long's memorial. If you'd like me to transfer his memorial to you, just let me know.
Good luck in your research!

|Robert C Johnston Jr||RE: My GG grandfather|
It would be an honor to add him, but it can only be done on my send, so send me his Find A Grave # and I'll do just that. Merry Christmas!
