I grew up in the "Fairmount" and "Brewerytown" sections of Philadelphia now known as the "Art Museum" area and I now live in Philadelphia's Greater Northeast. I began tracing my family history in 2003 starting with just a handful of names and bits of information on maybe two generations. Now my extended family tree has thousands of names and grows every week.
I discovered that my great grandfather William H. Carpenter served in the Civil War(Pa.186th Infantry Co."D"),he was stationed at Fort Mifflin guarding the City of Philadelphia. His younger brother Pvt. James Knox Polk Carpenter was "accidentally shot by a comrade's gun" outside of Petersburg, VA just two weeks before the end of the war. I also found several great grand uncles and a cousin who were well-known Catholic priests in Philadelphia. I also found that I had a Great Aunt who was an Immaculate Heart of Mary Nun for over 50 years, and a cousin who was also an Immaculate Heart of Mary Nun. Two extended family members were also members of that same order of nuns. My maternal grandfather lost two siblings in the influenza epidemic of 1918 which hit Philadelphia particularly hard.
Most of the names I have added to Find A Grave belong to members of my extended family tree or names I have found during my research of my family. Many of the surnames are the same as my family surnames but I am not sure if they are connected yet.

| Mary Mahoney Farr
Hi Kramer,
I am researching Mary Farr (nee Mahoney), as I believe her and her husband, William, are the parents of one of my ancestors (also named William Farr). Most signs point to my Mary Farr being the one who was tragically hit by a train, EXCEPT for an obituary that was published around the time of her death which lists her husband as John. Is there any way you can confirm the information you wrote on Mary Mahoney Farr's grave page (at Cathedral Cemetery)? Obviously the name John could have been a misprint, or William Farr could've gone by John, but I don't want to take something as fact until I have concrete proof (like, for instance, her being buried next to a William Farr).

Seems like a few cocindences.My great Uncle was Rev Francis A Brady.He was pastor in several parishs in chester but lastly at St Anthony of Paudua in Philadelphia,had a niece Marion Brady nun.She was a Mercy nun
My grandfather (John Brady) and his sister in law Catherine(married to Sylvester) both died of the spanish infulenza.
Rev Francis A Brady and his brother came from County Cavan Ireland.Father Brady was ordained at St CharlesMy grandfather was John and his father Patrick mother Katherine they had another son William who was an atty.Gallrv@yahoo.co | | | jason

Hi,
I looked for their gravestones this past weekend and could not find them. It is possible that they do not have stones because, going by their neighbors, A Montreuil Family gravestone is in Division 2, Section 3, Plot C, grave #18. And there was open space right next to the where I would imagine grave #21 is. I took a picture of the space and the neighbor to show you. I can post that if you'd like. Hi there I stumbled upon your Mary Hamilton Carkin in the hopes you could confirm my suspisions that she was the sister of my GGGrandfather Richard Hamilton...I have been trying to confirm his parents and you have Owen and in my search he has been the likely "cuprit" lol..this would be I believe her named in her brothers obit or maybe a daughter..as address is correct but her death was before Richard...help lol I so much want to be sure and add his siblings and parents to my tree..I followed a many census and links and keep coming back to Owen (father in Moyamencing 1950)...
