 | Stolen photos I am with you all the way on taking photos w/o permission, etc. I've had mine taken, and then, worse, no credit given that I was original owner. I'm waiting on two requests right now for permission to use...if I don't hear from the owner, then, no photo. I appreciate your reply and explanation to me. I guess I was too sensitive. So, hope no harm done. You are in the right.

 | Photos copied to Ancestry Hello;
I saw your message to Jim Tipton. It is not that our photos are copyrighted "on" Find A Grave. In the U.S., photos are essentially copyrighted to the photographer as soon as the shutter is snapped.
Ancestry's Terms & Conditions clearly state "Be aware that content belongs to the creator of that content and you should not reproduce or submit anything without permission of the owner." Unfortunately, few users actually read the Terms. (A problem not confined to Ancestry - too few Find A Grave users read the FAQs.) While I am not excusing the behavior, most people simply do not realize it is wrong to copy something and republish it on another site.
However, there is hope! Ancestry has a method of filing a copyright infringement claim to have the photos removed from their site completely (which the users cannot do). It takes time to gather the info they require and a month or so for them to process the claim, but the items will be removed. If you're interested, send me a SAC (read the last paragraph of my profile).

 | FAG Thank you for the email.
I had one positive experience on Find A Grave yesterday, and one first thing this morning.
I always say that 99.9% of all people are bad, but in truth, I know there is bad and good everywhere. Even though I have chosen to live a reclusive lifestyle, I keep running into bullies. Sometimes I feel like Whoopie Goldberg in Jumping Jack Flash when she went to met someone on a dock in the middle of the night, and she looks around and says, "Victim Here! Victim Here!" I was just shocked to find bullies here on Find A Grave.
I know I will get white-hot mad if someone steals my dove photos and my flower photos, as the photos are of our birds, and my plants. And the doves have a deep personal meaning for me as they were released in loving memory of someone I loved.
I wonder if it would help to but © on our photos with our name or web link.
For now, I am going to go play with by doggies and feed and play with some of our birds.
CharlieAngels, I hope you have a wonderful day. God Bless you for all that you do here.

 | Abram Teetor, 1803-1866, Ohio
I'm reading your message, and one before it about posting photos to ancestry.com without permission from the owner, to infer that I had done this on your photo. Am I wrong? I want the readers to know I do not own a Family Tree on ancestry.com for this man, nor have I posted his tombstone or personal photo anyplace. The photo on his memorial is by you. I have no need to post anywhere. I'm not related to this man, and I only sent info for you to add because he was connected to the Dudleys in Ohio, which I'm not related to either. I do appreciate you adding the info to his memorial. If you did not mean to say I was guilty of this, then I apologize...there was two postings on my page about it. So, email me privately and tell me where and what photo I have taken???Added by wvy on Feb 23, 2013 9:34 AM | | | M W B
 | FAG If you are on Find A Grave long enough you will find a large number of unkind people, and a lot of inaccurate and incorrect data.
I am considering deleting all my work and leaving.
Good luck.Added by M W B on Feb 21, 2013 4:08 PM | | | wvy
 | Abram Teetor, again Your question as to why photos on Findagrave show up in Ancestry, and vice-versa: some who post have permission to use them. Others, I suppose you'd have to ask the one who posted them. I really don't know....some owners don't care and give a blanket permission to use...others are very strict.Added by wvy on Feb 21, 2013 12:19 PM | | | wvy
 | Abram Teetor, Ohio Yes, I meant "Miami" as the handwriting on the SARS app was almost illegible. This application for Henry, Abram's son, for the Sons of the American Revolution, showed Abram's name with "Hon." as he was a member of the Legislature at time of his death, and I believe a lawyer. You don't have to include it....I didn't put the link to the SARS app in my notes. winnieAdded by wvy on Feb 21, 2013 12:12 PM | | | Richard Payne
 | RE: Mt Washington Cemetery I was in there, MtWashington Library, yesterday but didn't have time to browse. I'll try it next Saturday as they are closed tomorrow and Tuesday.

 | RE: Hi Richard THANKS! I know the librarians there fairly well and never thought to check on data there.....
Though the cemetery has a pretty good data base of it's own online.
We'll be going up there this weekend for sure. I'm working the Beechmont/Library section currently. Cleaned up some downed wood and replaced a bunch of flowers the wind had toppled.
We're really eager for Hillcrest to reopen. MUCH MUCH work needs done there on the graves also.
