RE: Conrad children
I'm beginning to think that Conrad senior never made it to Toledo. I just finished going through the Toledo directories. 1880 is the first year that any Hilsenbecks appear in the directory & there are just 2, Conrod & Elizabeth (wid of Conrod) both living at the same address. I'm sure it's just a misspelling & more than likely Elizabeth & her son Conrad, he would have been 16 or 17 years old.

The 1870 census has the family including the father living in Sandusky. The youngest daughter was born in Feb 1873 in Sandusky so Conrad sr. was still alive in 1872. I can't find them on an 1880 census so I don't know if he moved his family to Toledo & died soon after or if he died in Sandusky between 1873 & 1880 & that is why the family moved to Toledo.

Oh well, I'll just keep looking.

Thank you again for all your help,
Donna

RE: Conrad children
Hi,

You are so smart!!! Sometimes you have to go round about to get the final results you want!!

After I read your message it dawned on me that I had made the memorial pages for Mary Ann & Katherine!! All I had to do was edit their pages so their brother Conrad was no longer listed as their father!!! DUHH!!

I have some questions that I'm hoping you can answer.

Section 20/Lot 30 has the following:
grave 1:Ervie Hilsenbeck (son of Matthew & Kate)
grave 2:Conrad Hilsenbeck (son of Elizabeth)
grave 3:Elizabeth Erb Hilsenbeck
grave 7:Willie Hilsenbeck (son of Matthew & Kate)
grave 8:Matthew Hilsenbeck (father of Ervie & Willie, husband of Catherine "Kate")
grave 9:Catherine Stroh Hilsenbeck (wife of Matthew, mother of Ervie & Willie)

The 1870 Fed. census has an M. Hilsenbeck born in 1865 listed as one of the children of Elizabeth Hilsenbeck, the same as Matthew, but the census says female. I'm thinking that since he is in the same section & lot that he is her son & the census is wrong. Would the cemetery records have who his mother is??

Also, who are in graves 4, 5, & 6? Are they Hilsenbecks? In one of your photos it looks like a little corner of a flat headstone is showing through the ground to the left of Willie Hilsenbeck. Is that grave 6? Just trying to solve some more mysteries.

I can't thank you enough for all your help with my ancestors!

Donna

RE: Thomas Melle obit
I got the obit from the New Castle Henry County Public Library on their online resources newspaper index. Just type in Thomas Melle and anything on him should come up or at least use the Melle name. If you can't get it let me know and I will sent you a copy, just let me know your e-mail address.

Hi LV,

Thank you very for the photos of gravestone marker.
You took an outstanding close up photo of his picture. Not many people do that.
Very much appreciated.

Brown & Teichmann
Thank you so much for taking the time to fill my request for Rosemary Brown and Erich Teichmann's stones.

It really helped seeing how the stones are located next to related stones.

I do appreciate your photos very much.
