I wanted to do our family genealogy as a hobby when I retired form the work society. Didn't know a thing about it, but it sounded interesting. I bought my first computer in 1999, subscribed to Ancestry.com and I was on my way. No lessons, just hit & miss. Now, I'm a Genealogy Addict! Sometimes, I forget who's relative I'm researching. In the process of researching my relative, I run across somebody interesting and take off in that direction. But I love it! I just ran across this "Find A Grave" site tonight, so here I go again and I'm Loving it already!! Sherrie P.S. Picture - Charles & Sherrie's wedding shower 1954.
My only concern is to see that these pages have correct information. It does not matter to me at all who manages them. As I have said before, I'm very grateful to you, as a descendant of Jacob Braselton and Mary Bryson, for setting up these pages. If you want to assign both Jacob's and Mary's to me as you say you'll do, that would be fine, too. The merging of the duplicate pages for Mary means that there is some sorting and weeding to do to remove mistakes on the page, and I am happy to do that.
I have made corrections in the information on the page. Your email to me when you assigned the page to me implied that I'm someone who collects Find a Grave pages to tally up numbers of memorials I manage.
I can assure you this is not correct. My sole interest in contacting you about Jacob's page was to correct the obvious mistake you had published about Jacob's date of death. The date you gave for his death--1819--was contradicted by the information you had on the page itself about the birthdates of his children.
As a direct descendant of Jacob and Mary through their son William, I'm interested only in seeing correct information shared with anyone interested in them. I'm sorry you had the mistaken idea I wanted to take their pages from you. That was certainly not my intent. As I told you in my preceding message here, which is visible to everyone, I'm grateful to you for setting up their two memorial pages. If you're a direct descendant of Jacob and Mary, too, it's entirely appropriate that you manage both of their pages.
Thank you so much for the great memorial page for Jacob Braselton at Find a Grave. I wanted to send you correct information about his date of death:
Jacob Braselton died 17 Dec. 1849, according to his son Perry's family bible. His tombstone is worn, and people reading the date as 1819 are missing the lost portion of the downstroke of the numeral 4. Jacob could not have died in 1829, since he had children born up to the year 1829. The 1850 mortality census for Jackson Co., GA, states that he died in Dec. 1849 and his obituary in the Christian Index (GA Baptist journal) gives his date of death as 17 Dec. 1849. A eulogy for Jacob in the minutes of Walnut Fork Baptist church, where he was a deacon, gives the same date of death; the eulogy is dated 2 March 1850.
Rufus T. Jarman Hello, just a note to say I have transferred the memorial for Rufus to you, and you are welcome to create any memorial you need to for his family as long as there is not another one with same name creating a double memorial. This is a find a grave rule. Bon
