I'm a college graduate from Mobile, Alabama, and I became interested in my family tree at a young age. It wasn't until after the death of my grandfather Olen Cleo Boykin in June 2007 that I actually began collecting more information on my family history. I certainly wish that I had spent more time asking him questions, but now I can only depend on what family members and other resources that I have available. Over the past months I've been able to trace my roots from North Carolina to Alabama to Noxubee/Winston, Mississippi areas. |
Other surnames that are within my family tree include: Gazaway, Harless, Grimes, Patrick, Wilder, & Broach.
If anyone has any info that they might have available about the Boykin/Gazaway/Harless members in the Winston/Noxubee, Mississippi area please contact me. I'm interested in anything that you have to share!
If anyone has any questions, please be sure to ask and I'll respond as soon as possible.
I'll also try to fulfill photo requests in the areas near Mobile, Alabama so just let me know if you need any.

Received this note from the man at Payne Cemetery.
I found a 1900 Census with a Charles T Boykin ,wife Della , children Charles , Oscar and daughter Eddie E. born sept 1899 .Birth date matches Eppie E. I think this is the one .

I haven't forgotten you. I just haven't received an answer yet from the guy who works there and is on the cemetery board.
|Just another taphophile||last names entered incorrectly|
I noticed that the first 25 memorials you've listed have the last name incorrectly entered in the maiden name field for married women and this is placing them out of alphabetical order (which could lead to duplications).
The last name needs to be moved over to the "last name" field.

You are going to think I'm crazy but I have to tell you this. About two hours ago I was digging thru some old junk in my cedar chest and I came across a picture of this man Freeman. He is no relation to me but I have his picture because it fell out of a book I'd bought at a thrift store and the book had his full name and address on the front leaf. I don't even remember now what book it was because this was years ago. This elderly man had such a kind face and I copied the name and address onto a sticky note and stuck it to the back of the picture. When I found it awhile ago I decided to use my "skills" and did a search on him and came up with a bunch of stuff..census, Army enlistment, burial and then I find him and his son listed on Find A Grave! Crazy! Anyway, it's just one of those pictures where you sit in a little booth and it's a little faded. I don't know if I should upload it to his memorial or just hope some kin sees this note so I can mail the picture to them! The address I copied was 3534 Rebel Rd. Whistler, AL 36612 and there was a date of 12/29/10. Anyway, that's my little story on Freeman M. Griffin, for what it's worth!
You don't know me but I came across your profile and wanted to know if you are connected to
Sudie & George Boykin - They had a daughter named Connie Bill. Sudie was my grandfather's sister. Her maiden name was Hamilton. Her mother was Sara "Sallie" Ann Randall Hamilton Miller. I know it is a little confusing, but you can email me at email@example.com for any questions you may have. I also have a profile on here myself.
