James W Thomas Grave Location
Penny, will you please remove the grave listing of our great grand uncle James W Thomas from this cemetery. He is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in a grave marked Unknown. He died September 27, 1864 in Centralia, Boone, Missouri, in what is called the Centralia Massacre. He and 21 other Union soldiers were murdered by Bloody Bill Anderson and guerrillas that day. Bodies were first interred in Mexico, Missouri City Cemetery, later disinterred and moved to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for burial as Unknowns.

Louise and John Nelson photo requests
Hi. I will be going to Mount Olive cemetery over the next 3 or 4 weeks (weather permitting) to take photos of my relatives grave sites and I saw you had a request. If you would call the cemetery office (number on the front page of the cemetery page) and get the location of his burial, I will try to get the photo request for you while I am there. Just add it to your memorial in the plot section. They are very helpful at the office. Kathy

James and Bertha Saffer
are you related to them? He is a great grandson of John White and Jane Bradley who emigrated with 5 sons from England about 1855 and were in Farmington, IL by 1860. James and Bertha had a daughter Luella. I've wondered if there were any cousins left from this line. His two sisters in Chicago (just found the 2nd finally) never had any children. I can share more if you are interested. There are descendants in my line of the White family (James' mother was Luella White); she m Norman Saffer and were close to Luella's sister Margaret (Maggie) who had a very hard life; they lived in Galesburg, IL. I'm descended from James' brother Thomas. James' brother John H., the only one born in America, has living descendants I've known since I was a teenager. James' brother Joseph I've tracked descendants from Farmington, IL>Piatt County IL>Creston IA>Kansas City MO>Topeka KS and lost the trail. There's a slim chance of descendants in that line. James' brother Benjamin never married. All these James are the James from England whom James Saffer would obviously have been named after. James' parents moved from Galesburg to Chicago around 1900. His mother Luella died from stomach cancer about 1917? (her first cousin my grandfather I never met, Charles Thomas White) died from the same thing about the same age in about 1928 (can't get at my genealogy program right now). I paid a researcher to try to find an obituary in the Pittsburgh area for me; she couldn't. She did find a photo of one of their homes and had Luella marrying a Myron Schumacher. ancestry says they are WVa which doesn't make sense, then tracked them to around Seattle and lost the trail. I don't know if any of that was true so finding the graves (a beautiful cemetery) are the only truly concrete evidence i've had other than the census and SSDI.

Torstensen Mount Hope Cemetery
Penny
The Phone number for the Mount Hope Cemetery, Chicago, Il. is 708-371-2818. If you call and get the section, lot, etc. I will make every attempt to get you those photos. Alf Nelson's obituary says he was interment Wunders Cemetery which is in Chicago about three blocks north of Wrigley Field. You may want to check that also.
Thought you may not have the below.

Rubin or Reubin Thomas--Covert Cemetery--Osborne Co. Kansas
Walked the Covert Cemetery this past week and could not find Rubin's stone. Guessing since the request has been outstanding since April of 2009 that others weren't successful either.

Carrie (Huff) Hall
Carrie and her husband, William Harrison Hall, are not buried in Westlawn Cemetery. They are buried in Sonora (AKA New Sonora) Cemetery which has a rural Henryetta address, but is southeast of Dewar, OK. Both Henryetta and Dewar are in Okmulgee Co. Somewhat confusing, isn't it? Mary Ann (?) has made a posting for them in Sonora Cemetery.

Saffer
I also took a photo of the stone next to William, let me know if you need it. It is for "Leslie A Saffer-Oklahoma-Pvt Co M 358 Inf 90 Div World War 1-Mar 17, 1890 June 8 1953"
There are lots of Saffers in that small cemetery. I don't live near it anymore but can get friends or family to take more photos if you need them.
