Thanks for your interest.
I knew John Moore's daughter and she's in the Gullion Cemetery but his two sons are at Woodlawn. Plus his daughter's husband is at Woodlawn.
On my next trip to WV, I'll try to go to both cemeteries and see if I can find a stone. The Bell Cemetery is in terrible shape and a huge tree has fallen across it but the Gullion Cemetery is better taken care of. I'll also contact a friend who is a Gullion descendent and see if he has noticed a stone for John Moore.
I'm not sure how Judy got her info for her site, since she has no death record or headstone.
Thanks again for the heads up.

I'll send findagrave an email and ask them to remove that memorial since she isn't buried in Ohio.

I found another marriage record for her. Nicholas County December 26, 1958
They spelled his name Battin but her obituary has Batton.
|Sandy Littlejohn||Nedra Roberts Batton|
Do you know what Batton she married? I added the information you gave on her 2 marriages to Vernon Roberts. I'm in the Batton line and trying to figure out if she married into my line. I had never heard of her and I don't remember how I came across her name.
|Teresa Eagle Shrader||Eagle Ancestor Help Please|
Dear Ms. Morman,
I would prefer to contact you by the email address you provided and I will try that as well. But my interest is in finding both a father and mother for my great-great grandfather Robert Anderson Eagles (Eagle). The information that all of us researching have for him is pretty consistent.
His birth year is given as 1821 and place of birth is Buckingham, VA.
The one distant relative who has done the most work on this project, finds the first mention of him in 1839 in Buckingham County as he appears with what appears to be other members of his family to pay personal property tax. The other men are named:
Jonas Eagles, Wm.Thomas Eagles, James Henry Eagles
We know that "Eagles" and "Eagle" seem to be used on and off interchangeably throughout the course of his lifetime and down even into my own father's day.
My name is Teresa Ann "Elizabeth" (Catholic Confirmation name) Eagle Shrader. My father was Wallace Colonel Eagle 1916-1996. His father was Robert Anderson "Jack" Eagle (named after his grandfather, the man we are seeking information on).
My great grandfather is unknown as my great grandmother never married.
It is her father, Robert Anderson Eagle (s) that we would like to find out more about his lineage, country of origin, etc. He has an extremely impressive military record in the Civil War.
I'm not a huge Confederate/Civil War history buff, but many of those searching are.
Apparently our ancestor was in almost every major battle of the Civil War and was taken prisoner as well. He survived as a POW in Elmyra, NY which from reading their research was the worst, being called "Hell Myra".
I do think that somehow these Eagles must be of some relation as they are a strong and brave group of military men without fear. I know my own father was a quiet man but he was extremely brave and not afraid of anything. He was soft hearted to certain things but didn't like to show that emotional side, but he wouldn't spank one of his girls for anything :-)
Thank you for any information you might have. Even if you know whether they may be Irish or Scots may be of some help. I saw where someone said they came from England. I would just like to know.
Thank you ever so much for you help,
Teresa Eagle Shrader
