I buried my middle son 2 years ago and on March 16 2012 I lost my Mommy Janet Barker Hager.
Hi my name is Bonita. If you find a mistake on a posting that I have done please let me know I want it to be correct. I have learned from my mother Janet the history buff it needs to be correct. People have posted to much incorrect and people take it to be the truth when it's far from it...
I have posted every grave in the Family Gardens Cemetery at Low Gap W.Va. that has a death date I know several that doesn't. There was 8 old markers from the funeral homes that I can't read and I have done the Mausoleum . A lot of people doesn't realize there is 3 different cemeteries that look like 1 great big one and they are the Family Gardens, Memory Gardens, Caldwell Family Cemetery that is to your right just past the sign as you enter Memory Gardens.
WELL I have finished the Memory Gardens I have took a picture of every grave marker in the cemetery I am human and I may have missed a couple. I haven't done the inside of the "My son done it for me" Mausoleum I tried but as I tried to enter it took my breath away like there wasn't no air in the building so I couldn't not enter.
PLEASE DON'T TAKE MY PHOTO'S AND POST THEM ON ANOTHER SITE OR BOOKS THEY BELONG TO ME AND MY FAMILY AND IF I HAD WANTED THEM POSTED ON ANCESTRY COM OR ANY OTHER SITE I WOULD HAVE POSTED THEM MYSELF. THIS IS STEALING AND AGAINST THE LAW.
I WILL NOT BE POSTING NO MORE PERSONNEL PHOTO'S | |

 | 25689034 I have a wonderful story about this woman. I grew up knowing her and her two sons. "" 8/12/2007: To clear up the stories of this family I now have the hand me down truth from my childhood school friend, Bill Whittaker. Knowing of my confusion to the Bill Burke McKinney name delima, he has supplied me with the family version of the problem. Rosie met and fell in love with Mr. I. Whittaker, who at the time was staying in a boarding house and working at the Ridgeview Coal mines. Not knowing he already had a wife and family at Rumble until after she was with child. Unable to marry Mr Whittaker she named Bill with her maiden name of Burke. At the age of about 9 his mother married Mr. McKinney of Logan. She then preceded to change his name, not legally, but at school and so my confusion to Billy Burke to Billy McKinney began. Now as age goes I have become older and found him going by the name or Bill Whittaker. Shuuuu, even I am now confused. But to the reason for Bill to start going by the name of Whittaker. As a high school junior he left to go into the Navy, only to need a birth certificate. Oh yes, now he needs to answer as Bill Whittaker. Bill related to me he had a hard time doing this for he was raised as Burke and McKinney. Now this story has turned out good for Bill, he has acquired a set of half siblings that embraced him as a brother and not as outsider.
Now the Rosie Story; ""My uncle dated this lady and I knew her. He called her Rosey Burke and sometime Rosie Day. Story has it the family came form Ky and someone in the family was wanted by law.
Aug 2007, this story became true. See Rosie' fathers notes to see the reason. At the time of this writing the more important part is that my Uncle Ellett Ray Aliff lived with Rosie and helped raise her son Bill until her marriage to Mr. McKinney. According to Bill he was sad for Ellett to move for he was always treated as a son by Ellett. He has related fond and loving memories of my Uncle. One story was of a young boy who would go to the poker game across from the "Green Light" beer bar and take orders for sandwiches or drinks and tote to the men, including my Uncle and Dad, to receive cash payment. DJA
Now to Rosie' father story. Obits of Boone and Surrounding counties Vol 4, 1942/1946, pg21. CVN Oct 19, 1944, Services for Mr. Burke, 58, of Ridgeview, who was struck and killed by an automobile Saturday night, were held at 11 am Tuesday in the Community church at Nellis, with Rev. Noah Javins officiating. Hunter and Hunter mortuary had charge of the burial in Boone Memorial Park in Madison. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Richard Kinder and Mrs. Godfrey Kinder, both of Nellis; Mrs. august Phillips, Jr and Mrs. Virgil Terrell, both of Monclo and Miss Rosa Burke, at home; a son Edward Burke of McRoberts, Ky; 6 brothers, 4 sisters and nine grandchildren.
By this can you find her maiden name. Day or Burke. thanks for reading. I have lots more on this family. | | | Doris Aliff
