I live in Northern Virginia, Bristow, to be exact. I grew up in the area and have seen my world drastically change in the past 20 years. I have two daughters and my husband is from Lancaster, PA. I am currently employed as an Instructional Technologist in a local middle school (God bless middle school staff everywhere!)
RE: beulah cemetery Ethel Pettit Ethel Pettit may have been kin to me. My family (Pettit's) are from Fairfax County, Franconia area to be exact. My Great Grandparents were Lewis E., and Margaret Marie Lloyd Pettit of Alexandria. Any related to me, feel free to contact me.
I am also Margaret Pettit. (Named after my Granny)
RE: beulah cemetery - rogers family Hi, you asked how i was related to the Rogers family... actually I am related a couple of different ways through marriage far removed but the MAIN way is through my great great great grandmother Alice Rogers Potter... you have memorials for some of her siblings... i saw you have Albert and Arthur (and I can't access my ancestry.com right now so I dont know the other siblings names from memory). Alice was the youngest Rogers sibling (I believe there were 9 of them, the children of Henry and Hester Rogers)... Alice married Edward W Potter and died giving birth to her first and only child when she was just 17 (my great great grandmother Alice Potter Grimsley). I am also related to just about every Grimsley and Petitt in that area. If you have any pld photos of people from the Rogers family, I would love to have copies - I saw the one you put up of Arthur and it is great!
RE: Trone/Weeden Thanks for the info on Trone's! If you're going to get shot going into that part of town, then maybe it's better not to! I'm going to see if any additional info is on the internet regarding this cemetery... Thanks, Heidi
Beulah Cemetery/Schurtz Cemetery Hi -- You definitely did not do a muck-up. You did a wonderful job, and devoted a lot of time and effort in entering all of those burial sites and photographs. Only those of us who have lived in the area all of our lives, and who have relatives in one or both of the cemeteries know it is two separate cemeteries. They really need some sort of identification on Schurtz Cemetery, and hopefully will get around to doing so in the near future. But you have done a great service to a lot of people with all of the work you put into this project, and it is greatly appreciated!!
Beulah Cemetery and Schurtz Cemetery Just a note to help avoid any confusion someone may encounter when looking for a relative's grave -- there are two separate cemeteries, side by side, on Beulah Road in Franconia (Fairfax County) VA. Beulah Cemetery is very clearly marked, with the name over the main gate, wrought iron fence on the front and sides, and a chain link fence across the back. It is beside Calvary Road Baptist Church (formerly called Beulah Baptist Church). Just behind and to the north of Beulah Cemetery is Schurtz Cemetery, a chain-link fenced-in cemetery, with no name shown. The two cemeteries are divided by a county blacktop footpath. Schurtz Cemetery is beside the Mount Calvary Community Church. This Beulah Cemetery listing of gravesites contains graves from both cemeteries.
James Edmondson Susanne, you are more than welcome. I also added some more photos to the Sartin Cemetery, Anderson Co., TN. to listings that I believe you had made, you may want to check them out. If you need anymore from around here let me know and I'll try to help.
