My family spent many Sunday afternoons visiting our family cemeteries. We would stroll together, sometimes three or four generations at a time, gently touching the stones, whispering greetings, shedding a tear or two, always careful of our steps, sharing memories and legends, passing the stories down from one generation to the next. I always felt like I knew everyone in those cemeteries even though thay had passed away decades, even centuries, before my birth. As children, we would stand before the stone of an ancestor and carefully recite everything we had been told, to the knowing nods or corrections of our elders. I cherish the memories of those Sundays in my adult life. My family no longer lives close enough to each other to stroll through those cemeteries. Find A Grave has allowed me to create virtual family cemeteries that my family can stroll through at any time without the limitations of time or distance. We can't touch the stones or hear the wind in the pines, but we can still whisper a greeting, shed a tear, and remember.|
I will gladly edit or transfer any of the memorials that I have submitted that are not in my direct line.

I have been starting back to researching my family tree and found your information about John B Brown. My g grandfather was Joseph Brown son of John J Brown, born1868 died 1890.
So thankful for your write up - gives me a good prospective of my g g g grandfather John B. Brown. Have you any more information of his mother or father prior to 1778?
Thanks Nancy Brown Slade

Hello Roanna Camden Cann, It was brought to my attention by Rich Kreiss, another contributor, that we have two William A. Coleson's with about the same birth and death dates in two different Willoughby cemeteries in Hertford County, NC. One was contributed by you in 2011 and one (in the other Willoughby cemetery) by me in 2012. Yours is Memorial #675602250 and mine is Memorial #139926111.
I think we reported on the same person. I first assumed it was my mistake. But then, I found my field notes and my information came from a barely legible grave marker at the William Preston Willoughby cemetery off Vann Rd. near Ahoskie, Hertford County. This marker is beside one for John R. Coleson who may be W. A. Coleson's father. Your reported dates are probably the more accurate. Mine came from the worn marker.
I would like to sort this out with you. Please advise. Sincerely, Frank McGee

The memorial for
Elizabeth Kensey Johns
Death: Dec. 1, 1715
Elizabeth Johns, the dear and well-beloved virtuous wife of Richard and mother of this family, d. 1st day of 12th month, 1715/16 at a quarter past 8 in the morning.
Widow of Thomas Sparrow, died 1674.
Elizabeth was the wife of Richard... but then it says 'widow of Thomas Sparrow, died 1674"?
Is this posted to the wrong Memorial by chance?

I saw a message you left asking about where this is. John's Creek and Sinking Creek are both in Craig county. Th Bell Family Cemetery is in John's Creek, Craig county. I know it's very confusing up there, but it's mostly Craig Co.

In Virginia from Texas researching Our Family History. Is the Gravesite of Peter Northen accessible to get to? It lists only his grave in the cemetery. Not sure if this is just a memorial or actual Gravesite since it doesn't list his Family as well. Thank You so very much for creating this.
Sincerely, Carol Howard Kelly

I wanted to explain an edit I just put in on her - her mother's maiden name was Mary Ann Gover. Ann was never married.
