Bonness Beth
Mary Phelps Montgomery & Constance Phelps Montgomery Burrell
Hi Martin,

My name is Beth Bonness and and my husband, Jeff McCaffrey, and I purchase the Phelps Montgomery home across the street from the Burrell home, now Holman's.

We had the Phelps Montgomery House moved last December to an empty lot behind the Rivermark Credit unit around the corner from our family home (of 30 years). We are in the process or renovating the Phelps Montgomery Home into 7 living spaces and I'm doing historical research especially focused on the family activities and we'd like to include some stories/pictures in the common areas of the building. There were several glass photograph plates found during the demolition of the interior (had been divided into about 15 office spaces).

We'll be visiting the Oregon Historical Society to look through diaries and family papers for stories on Thanksgiving and birthdays, as well as doing research in the Oregonian archives, but noticed your posts and thought I'd reach out.

We'd love to get in touch with a living relative and hear any family stories first hand :)

Thanks,
Beth Bonness

I love reading about the family...that was great!
So tell me, did you get my Ancestry invite? When
you go there you can see pictures of Sprague's mother and his aunts & uncles...also of the
store his daddy had in Buffalo...Riegel &
Robinson. Sprague's sister Donna used to sing
in Washington DC...I believe at an opera
house. His cousin Skee Riegel was a famous
golfer in the 40s & 50s...he was in the newspapers
constantly...I have a drawer-full of clippings.
Sprague's great uncle was a famous judge from
Syracuse, Henry Riegel. I do have a picture of
Henry and one of Sprague's grandpa Rev Jacob
Riegel. Let me know if you turn anything up on him
please. He does have a service record but am not
sure if it was Merchant Marines or something. If
you have any pictures of the family...could you send me copies? leigh61364@yahoo.com

Hello Martin
I understand you want to know about Sprague Riegel...Marian Voorhies first husband? I know very little about him...as a matter of fact, I have been looking for 5
years for his brother, William Harvey Riegel,
my great grandfather. I got lucky with the rest of the family. His father Albert Jacob Riegel, born Seneca County, NY,
owned a clothing store in Buffalo NY for years.
His mother was Julia Fritcher, born in Athens,
Bradford County, Pennsylvania. I have several pictures of the Fritcher family...hardly any of
the Riegels. I have not tracked Sprague through the Census to see when he ended up in Oregon.
He was born in Buffalo NY. It looked to me that
Marion & Sprague ran an orchard there in Oregon.
I wish I could tell you more. I believe
Marion had Sprague cremated so I don't know if
there is a memorial anywhere. If I can answer any questions, I will be happy to try.
Leigh :)

Are you still active?
I sent you some additional information for a few ASH memorials. They were sent through each memorial. Did you get the messages? I'm trying a different path to reach you. I'll also try your email address.

Hello Martin,

First thank you for the work that you do. It enables others who can't be there to find their relatives.

I am trying to link my aunts and uncles with their parents. Do you transfer? William is one of my uncles. His number is 3893754 and mine is 46879258. If not can you enter the information for him.

Thanks again.

Hello Martin,

I have looked all over Wisconsin and can't find another copy of his memorial. Can you send me a link to both of these?
