I am Frances Jeanette Nelson and I have been doing genealogy research for nineteen years. I was born and raised in Richmond, Va. My motto is, genealogy without documentation is mythology. |
I have been researching my ancestors, the ancestors of my spouse, and doing research for others.
I took a break from genealogy for about a year and a half after undergoing a kidney transplant in 2009. I am very grateful to my donor family, whoever and wherever they might be.
My ancestors are from the following counties in VA: Hanover, Caroline, Middlesex, New Kent, King & Queen, etc. I also have paternal ancestors from Macon, NC that moved to various other counties in NC, to SC, VA, etc. Some of my surnames are Atkinson, Franklin, Martin, Mathews, Alexander, Gibson-Gipson, Ellis, Garren, Dill(s), Ellison-Allison, Gayle-Gale, Thomas, West, Carter, Schools, Mahon, Owen(s) etc.
My husband's ancestors are from Louisville, KY- Ashe, NC- Grayson, VA- Wabash, Indiana- Corbin, KY- Whitley, KY- Bourbon, Kansas, Montana, Germany, Ireland- and other places. Some of my husband's surnames are Nelson, Taylor, Barton, Vanover, Harris, Mitchell, Morgan, Littrel/Literal, Cox, Bradley, Hutchison, Hooker, Weber, Meriwether-Meerwarth, etc.

Virgie Fannie Dills was my husband's grandmother. His mother was Gathie Jane Mathis. We know almost nothing about Fannie or her side of the family. Gathie never talked about her family much. Any info that you could share with us would be greatly appreciated. Is there a Lucretia Gibson in the family? I have a picture of Fannie and Gathie when they were young and I have one of them when they were older. If you would like a copy of them just let me know.
Hope it was alright for me to contact you. We are so curious about Fannie and her family.

So, Emma Atkinson was my grandfather's Mom (Milton Lynn). Do you have any record of where she is buried?
Also, I found a birth record up at hanover courthouse of a Felix N. born abt 1876 to Richard & Louisa (Wright) Mathews. Do you have anything on Felix?
THank you Jeanette for your reply.

when you request a transfer thru the Edit tab you should include your findagrave #, not the $ of the memorial. your # is by your name at the top of this page.
just trying to help.
it makes it so much easier for everybody.
|deegraver||RE: Danny Wayne Hutchinson|
yes, if you request thru the Edit tab on the right side of his memorial page.

Hi Jeanette. I'm the granddaughter of Milton Lynn Mathews and great - granddaughter of Manley Mathews. We're related (I think) thru who? My dad was Walker Lee Mathews.

could you please go to the memorial pages and use the request transfer, it will give the info needed to transfer easily. I am limited on my time on here due to my husbands health issues.

My name is Elaine Freeman. Nonnie was my grandmother. I never knew her but have done research. Would love to know what you found out. I see you live in VA. I have traced her family to that area.

I am looking for relatives of Harvey Chavis...he was married to my Granny's sister before he married Alice. Are you related to Alice or Harvey?

Thank you so much, Jeanette! I do not have very much information on the Moores- you've aided my search quite a bit. I am Joseph Walker Atkinson Jr's grandson by his first child, Rhonda.
Again, many thanks!
