Friends, Feb. 22, my mother, |
Hazel Staton Peurifoy passed away after an eight year struggle with Alzheimer's. I am taking a break for the time being. Will keep up with some corrections, but longer and more complicated things will take more time. Plan to be back in action by mid-March. Till then your patience is appreciated.
The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. My current focus is Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 28,000 graves but only about 9,000 listed. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there.
PLEASE DO NOT POST DEATH CERTIFICATES ON MY MEMORIALS.
PLEASE DO NOT POST OBITUARY PICTURES, THEY ARE COPYRIGHTED.
My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys were in Jamestown, VA long before the Hugonaut movement.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.
You are invited to visit the memorials of my grandmother Lillian Scott Peurifoy, my mother
Hazel Staton Peurifoy
and Father Robert Eugene Peurifoy.
Photos of graves are free to use. However, personal photos of individuals are copyrighted by this writer and can only be used on other sites by written request via email (not "public messages on my personal page) and acknowledgement of original owner of the photograph.
Thanks to all who help with my typo, mistakes and incorrect links. I could not accomplish this without your help.
Proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders.

I believe his name is Daniel Clyde Lefler, instead of B Clyde. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks Robert - sorry so slow in getting back to you but have limited internet right now. I did try and correct it once when I realized the difference but they weren't processing corrections at the time. I will try and get it done soon though. Thank you.

I will gladly add info. We are shut down her in
Cabarrus Co. and it is still snowing. I have made
2 gallons of snow cream so far. It is so bad that
some ambulance's have gotten stuck. We have
stayed in. One of my neighbors mother died
yesterday and they cannot get to the funeral home
to make arrangements. The children her are
making snowmen They have not plowed
any side roads here so we will stay at home.
Thanks for the info.
Have a great day,

Speaking of obits, I find how much a family does not know about their family by what is in the obit. It amazes me to be a total stranger can find the deceased parents correct name and sometimes it is not what is listed in the obit. This is what made me write my own obit. My girls can just fill in the death date.

Thanks Robert for the links to Riley's parents. He is now linked to them. I too have come across families that make III a junior and move junior to being a Sr. and heaven only knows what they make the actual Sr.
