Bio Photo Feel free to use my photos for your genealogy research, but please mention that you got the photo from findagrave.
When I do headstone hunts, its nice to get a thank-you from the requester! Also, when writing to me, add a salutation at the beginning, and a thank-you at the end! Ignoring simple polite manners will get your request deleted.

Use a mirror to reflect the sunlight off of the stones lettering. I have a cheap $10.00 mirror that is about 4 feet high. I can hold the mirror in one hand, and take the photo with the other hand.
Another place to find your ancestors gravestone photos is on: just search for their name.

A complete and searchable listing of the Hale collection is now available on To find it, click on "search" at the top of the screen. Bring down the drop down list, and click on "card catalog". Then, in the search box, type in "Hale". Then click on it, and you can do a name search. Be advised that not all names come up.

Dear Irma, Please accept the edits for the above memorial for my wife's younger sister. I have also linked her parents and will make an attempt to make my way to East Haddam to obtain a picture of the headstone. Thanks for posting her memorial!

Dear Irma,
I just wanted to say thank you to you for your hard work. Because of one picture that you posted, I have been able to find a handful of other ancestors that I was stumped on and was at a standstill.
Thanks again...R Koehly

I think it was the Barbour records but also the Connecticut Church Record Abstracts has his baptismal as May 30, 1736 gave the Barbour records some legitimacy.

RE: Samuel Wright #103510084
Dear Irma,
Concerning the subject Find A Grave memorial, I have found that there was another Samuel Wright born in Vermont in 1770. Since this is the case, I wish to withdraw my request. At the time, I thought the request was valid, but there is no certainty of which Samuel Wright is buried there. My Samuel was also born in 1770 in Stoddard, Cheshire, NH to Silas and Mary Wright, originally from Westford, Massachusetts. Thank you for your challenge, as a Find A Grave contributor, I do not want to inject misinformation into memorials.

Thank you very much for the info on their years. I got the dates from a website that has transcription of Hale Cemetery Records for Cypress Cemetery. I subtracted the years that the site had of their deaths and your find would be correct. I made changes. R.J.
