RE: William W. Givens
James "Harvey" Givens and my William Wesley Givens jr were brothers. Their father and Mother was William Wesley Givens and Mary Jane Corey. William and Mary's marriage record I believe was found in Chicago Illinois.
If you search on FIND A GRAVE you will find my William Wesley Givens (bro to your James Harvey) listed. His wife was Samantha Ewing. I have been adding the family descendant information a little at at time.
I haven't really went back past the Senior William Givens. It's been difficult.
My great Uncle Dick Givens (son of William Wesley Givens jr and Samantha Ewing once told me that his grandfather William Givens sr served in the Civil War on the Union side. Uncle Dick said his Grandfather William Givens married his grandmother who was a Pottawatomie Indian, named Bacon Rind. Uncle Dick said she was a Pottawatomie Indian of the Delaware Tribe. Well, I have been informed by others there was no such mixing. Also during my research I found his grandmother to be named Mary Jane Corey. I am thinking Uncle Dick was referring back one more generation and just got confused. He was in his eighties then when I was taking down family relations. Hope this gives you some insights on the family.
