I was born in Newton, MA on 1 April 1970 and grew up in Wellesley Hills, MA. My parents are Martha Jane (Gordon) Pontes and the late George Manuel Pontes.|
I graduated from Wellesley Senior HS in 1988, J.P. Keefe Regional Vocational Technical High School in 1988, Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI in 1991 and 1994.
After graduation I moved back to Wellesley until 1997 when I moved to Newport, RI where I currently live with my husband Bob and our three boys Bobby Jr (12), Zachary (9) and Cameron (6).
I spend my free time crocheting, doing cross stitch, scrapbooking, watching NASCAR (#3 & #88), doing genealogy, watching the Patriots, the Red Sox and the Bruins. I am a Cub Scout Den Leader and an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts.
My eldest son is currently working on his Eagle Project to help restore the Fort Adams Historic Post Cemetery and document for the State.
My mother Marty got me interested in the family history.
In November 2001 my mother-in-law Mimi passed away In April 2003 my father George passed away In December 2006 my father-in-law Bob passed away. I have been actively working to "fill in the gaps" in what I refer to as the "Family Jungle".
So far this jungle spans the states of: Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia; and the countries of: Canada, England, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Scotland.
As I move forward with my ancestry research large amounts of information are being added to this site, and my main program on a weekly basis.
Please feel free to advise me if you note errors or misspellings so I may correct them as soon as possible.

RE # 31824882
Would you happen to know if your aunt Del had any sons by the name of Robert Moniz. I am assisting a cousin you is showing a DNA connection to yours and my side of the family.
|Kenneth Joseph Raposa||Memorial # 154380915 (Raposa)|
I am working on the family of Joao "John" Lucinda Raposa, his wife Francisca (Rego) Raposa and their children. See # above.
Do you know if Joao "John" Lucinda Raposa is the brother of Manuel Raposa, our Great Grandfather? I have the OBIT for Joao "John" and it does not mention any siblings. I believe it is so, but am looking for stronger confirmation. The reason I feel it is, is due to the circumstances surrounding one of their sons, cause of death. I remember my Grandmother (Josephine) telling me this story about a great uncle. Any assistance is appreciated.
Hope you and your family are well.
|Kenneth Joseph Raposa||RAPOSA, Manuel, Jr. & Cecilia|
Hope all is well. I am doing DNA on Ancestry and 23and me. I have many cousins coming out of everywhere and two that are adopted, connected and looking to find birth parents. This is prompting me to take a closer look at the Raposa-Cordeiro-Mattos sides.
I can not locate birth records for:
Manuel, Jr. 02.13.1908 Fall River/Fairhaven?????
Cecilia 05.19.1909 Fall River/ Fairhaven ????
Any info and source you can share would be greatly appreciated.

|Jo M||Memorials 32277822 & 32277823 Strickland|
I am interested to know if you connect to any of the Stricklands. I see that you created several Find A Grave memorials for them. I am the 2nd great-granddaughter of Joshua Strickland & Melinda Harrell Strickland, through Cora Strickland Graham, wife of Judge Wm Joseph Graham of Henderson, TX. My sister & I have an Ancestry tree (Horner Family From Virginia and Texas). I am originally from East Texas, & there are many of my ancestors buried in cemeteries in/around Henderson, Rusk Co., TX. I was happy to see the memorials that you have created. Thanks for your efforts. Jo Meredith

|stuffnsuch||Mabel H. Griffin|
There is an error in your entry for Mabel H. Griffin b 1910 d 1990 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Minden, Rusk, Texas. There is a typo, a "B" in front of her name Mabel that makes it hard to pull up in an index. Thank you for your work!

|whistling bird||Abigail & Caroline Hatch|
I visited Greenwood yesterday and checked all of the stones in the Hatch Family area. Most of the marble is beautiful but a couple have been on the ground for years and are totally disintegrated. I was able to find, what I believe, is a section of Caroline's stone. You can make out some of the letters. Next to Caroline is Abby. I was unable to find an Abigail so I went ahead and posted the headstone. I couldn't find the name Abigail on the broken stones but if you don't think this is the correct memorial I will be happy to remove the picture.
