Bio and Links
Bio Photo This memorial shows four families from my family tree: Coffin, Macy, Starbuck, and Folger.

I first became interested in genealogy about 1955, when I found out there was a book called The Mendenhalls of England, the United States and Africa and I really wanted to know what they were doing in Africa. Since then I have found the Mendenhall Family website and learned a lot about my ancestors, one of whom is buried near the Taj Mahal. After the death of my husband in 2003, I moved back to the family farm near Hidalgo, Illinois. I have traveled to visit my ancestors' gravesites and other family history locations in Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, and nearby in Illinois, as well as those of my husband in Sleepy Hollow, New York. I am a member of the Mendenhall Family Association and my granddaughter and I attended their reunion in Mendenhall, Pennsylvania, in 2010.

The family lines I am interested in include Mendenhall, Swick, Hunt, Goebel, Keenan, Parsons, Cramer, Van Tassel, Woodard, Rodebaugh, Jobe, and more.

Ellie's Grandma
RE: Charles Newkirk
Thank you for catching the error in the death place, because yes, I did mean Crooked Creek.

And thanks for updating him and all that you've done. He's a distant cousin and I was glad to find his memorial.

RE: Waldens
You have done such a nice job on Samuel Tetric Gosley Walden memorial I thought you might be related with all the info. Would you consider allowing me to maintain gg granfather's memorial?
Thank you for all your work.

RE: Waldens
According to his daughter and grand children who knew him the middle name was Ditto. Why was never explained..it may have been for his father. It is a unique name! Thanks for the transfers.

Would consider transferring the memorials of Samuel D. Walden #21782504 and his wife Mary L Eveland Walden #21782521 to me. They are my Great-grand parents. Thank you

Mendenhall history

Avice,

This is not my line, but I read your page... and found it so very interesting! How cool... and for young and old alike... curious!

May I ask how (short version) the Mendenhalls ended up in Africa and near the Taj Mahal?

Were they missionaries, ambassadors, or plain ol' but exciting and wonderful explorers/businessmen of their day?

No hurry, but I do look forward to hearing your reply.
Meanwhile, may the Lord bless you and yours.

RE: Martha Songer Griffith
Yes, Avanelle is my aunt. She is the last of ten kids and in pretty good health I think. Have to get down and see her. Kay

Martha Songer Griffith
born 8-4-1823, died 8-25-1862, married 8-22-1843, is believed to be in this cemetery. Do you live near Songer?? I have a grandson looking for Martha, sure she is there. I have been there a couple of times but know I can't find it without my mom and my Aunt Avanelle. Kay
