Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Syracuse, NY, and raised in Utica. It wasn't until 2008 that I learned the identity of my biological family and began a fascinating genealogy search of my Scottish and English heritage. I have since visited areas in the US where my ancestors lived and am in the process of assembling a huge family tree.

re: mariah hilyer
I got to the bottom of it, and ancestry.com is wrong. I found this, and it shows her parents as William and Dianna Hilyer. I am so sorry for all the trouble!! It has been interesting! (Maria L. Hilyer, dau. of William
and Dianna ( ) Hilyer, b. March 9. 1848 in New
Yorki d. June 22, 1943 at Belmont, Portage Co.,
Wis.) Take care, Paula

RE: re: relation
This is the page. We have been looking at it, and it doesn't sense that her last name is Hilyer. I'm sorry to bother you. I think I have to research this more thoroughly as something isn't adding up.
I don't know if this hyperlink will work, but this is where it shows them being her parents. http://person.ancestry.com/tree/100662418/person/220006961419/facts

I have to get up early, so I can't spend anymore time on it for now. Take care, Paula

RE: re: relation
Mariah Hilyer would be her maiden name as she was married to Thomas Benjamin. It is just confusing as my son did a trial to ancestry.com, and it has Mordecai and Margaret as her parents. I always hit a dead-end when trying to find her parents. She was born in 1848 and died in 1943. Thank you for all your help. It could be ancestry.com is wrong. Paula

RE: re: relation
Yes there is a Thomas Benjamin also. In fact, he was married to Mariah Hilyer. I found this in my search. On ancestry.com it has Mordecai Benjamin and Margaret Hursh as her parents. I found this while searching: http://www.bigalke.biz/myronfelckowski/getperson.php?personID=I174965&tree=MyronFelckowskiTree

Thank you for the prompt response!

re: relation
Hello. I have been tracing my family tree. My mother was a Benjamin (Mary Ellen), her father Earl Benjamin. I have traced the tree to Mordecai Benjamin, but confused. It shows on ancestry.com they only had one daughter, Mariah Hilyer (Maria Hillier), yet I found on MyHeritage, they only had one son, Gaylord W. Benjamin. And, now this says he had 14 children. Do you have any more information? My email address is: rettlepa@ptd.net. I appreciate it. Thank you, Paula (Platt) Rettle

RE: DO Mills
Greetings,

I apoligize for my delayed response. Unfortunately I don't have very much info on Darius' parents. All that I do have is that their names were James Mills and Hannah Ogden. James was a prominent resident of North Salem, New York.

You might want to try contacting the North Salem Historical Society to see if they have anything on them.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of anymore help.

Best wishes,
Gerald M. :)
