James E. Proffitt is not listed in our cemetery book, but perhaps the stone was missed when the information for the book was recorded. I will try to get to the cemetery and see if there is a stone for him. Someone has added an application for headstone on the findagrave website. Thanks Janice. Sounds like all you need to do is call the VA and get his proper location, we know is not 1C or 5499. But the fact he doesn't appear in the onsite records remains a puzzle, possibly the application was denied? Anyway, if you DO find John just give me a holler, I'll get you a real nice photo.
