|I am completing 30 years of research on the Delph family beginning in Grayson County, VA. This has led me to Dudenville Cemetery where James Asbury Delp October 3, 1856-February 10, 1891 is buried. Also his brother, Robert Tivis Delp June 11, 1850-July 21, 1920 and Tivis' wife Elizabeth Ann (Johnson) May 2, 1879-April 11, 1932. I believe their mother and step-father are also there and I wish to verify this: Powel and Mary Robinson (Mary Ann (Kyle) Delp Robinson February 21, 1829-February 4, 1897. Is this cemetery in Barton or Dade County? Thanks. Laura L. Moncrief|

I double-checked the photo, the stone does read 1889. I added a note with the information re his correct year of birth.

You are very welcome, glad I could help.

You're quite welcome. As a "graver" I know how hard it can be to make out inscriptions on stones. I often resort to "chalking" the stone if necessary to bring out the writing. Some say it damages the stone, but the way I see it, if it already can't be read it's well deteriorated to begin with. A photo can at least save the memory of it.
Have a good week,

Matilda's photo is already on her memorial. It's not a good angle, but it definitely looks like 1871 to me.
