Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been working on genealogy for about 45 years and my husband, Roy, and I are also working on a project to identify and photograph burial places of Civil War veterans in Iowa. He is the State Graves Registration Officer for the Iowa Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW).

I have Virtual Cemetery of Civil War Veterans buried in Iowa which now has well
over 15,000 names but is unsearchable because Find a Grave will not search if there are over 10,000 names. I have contacted them several times about this issue and would appreciate it if you would also contact them at to tell them that you would like to access this Virtual Cemetery. Maybe if enough people ask, they will fix this problem. I am fairly certain that I am not the only one with this issue.

If you are a relative of someone I have posted a memorial for--that is NOT a relative of mine--I would be glad to transfer management to you. I do have a personal policy of NOT transferring memorials to anyone who is listed as Anonymous, though.

Please feel free to use my photos as you like, but I would appreciate photo credit if you use them on another website.

If you have a comment, question,or correction to any of my Memorials, please use the Edit on the Memorial page. It is much easier to find the correct person that way. Additions and corrections which are phrased rudely as demands may be ignored.

Larsene and Christian Moller Berthelsen grave at Graceland.
The two people in your memorial indeed were born in Denmark. Larsene was the wife of Hans Christian Berthelsen, whose line goes up to Niels Vinge Berthelsen, the son of Else Nielsdatter and Berthel Nielson. Christian was her son with Hans, who died in Denmark in 1907. Christian came over with Larsene and two other Berthelsens in 1909 from Copenhagen, Denmark.

White Cemetery in Appanoose Co.
Thank you so much for your help in straightening out the confusion I had with the Civil War markers in the White Cemetery. Your vast knowledge on Iowa Civil War Veterans is truly amazing. I appreciate your willingness to go the extra mile to share this knowledge.

Thank you for freely sharing the headstone photo of my 4th great uncle.I have never been to Iowa and really appreciate your time and effort. I have also come across the search limits in my results, it is a real nuisance, especially in Canada where the whole country is listed in a result because they do not include the records broken down by Province (State). I will add another message to help change that.

RE: Stephans DeKock
I forgot to tell you in my previous message that I tried to give you a heads up by putting information on the duplicate entry for Stephanus under the caption of the picture. I believe there is also a picture of the stone on Engeltje's memorial page as well under the name De Kock (space)
Please see previous message from me.
Thanks Again.

RE: Stephans DeKock
Hi Linda,
Just wanted to let you know that you created a duplicate entry for Engeltje VanZee DeKock.
If you look under the listings you will find Stephanus and Engeltje under De Kock ( note the space between the e and K in the name.
Sorry you did so much work. Please eliminate you duplicated entry.

RE: Hackley and Harper
I've tried removing and re-adding and still having the problem. When you click on the photo it does open it up in the correct position. Please feel free to make adjustments. I would appreciate it.
Thank you.

I was at Dodgeville's St. Mary's Cemetery today looking for this stone. I believe I found it based on location stated in cemetery records, but it is impossible to read so I can't be sure. It is not possible to tell the spelling of the last name. I didn't post it because I'm not positive it is the correct stone due to illegibility.
