|Doris (Storey) Garrett||Adeline and Sarah Swanner|
Are you sure they are buried at Shiloh. I don't have them on my list. I think the Cem. Assoc. is mostly for upkeep on the Cem. Carl Hall collected money for it about 10 years ago. He was killed a few yrs. ago when he was working on his Motor Home or Camper. He had a Cement Block under it I think and it collasped with him under it. You can't be too careful!!!
They put a road down thru the Cem around the church which wasn't a good decision but the Genealogical Society in Fayetteville is your best bet. Would Adeline and Sarah have been more recent burials. The Gene. Soc. is working on all the Lincoln Co. Cemeteries so they could probably help you.
I have a Georgia Swanner who married George Edward Storey. Georgia was born 02 Feb 1891 and
died 11 Apr 1946. If you want more info. let me know. Doris
|Doris (Storey) Garrett||Douthit's|
I do have some information on the Douthits if you tell me who you are interested in. Doris
|Doris (Storey) Garrett||Dee Swanner|
This is what I have. Dee Swanner married Jennie Mai Story 19 May 1918. Some of us spell Storey with the 'e'. Others have dropped the 'e'. Dee Swanner died 04 Aug 1951. Jennie Mai Story was born 27 Jul 1891, the daughter of of Edward Farris Story Jr. and Sarah Frances Hampton born (18 Dec 1848 and died 03 May 1917). Dan (which may be your Daniel) was born 17 Jul 1929. He was the son of Dee Swanner and Jennie Mai Story. I have no other children listed but there may have been more. I have lots of info. on the Storeys which goes back to 1725 in SC.
The Shiloh Cemetery lists 3 Swanners. I.E. Swaner born 22 May 1856 and died 30 Aug 1901. Emma F. Swaner born 18 Sep 1862 (no death date) Emma F. was the wife of I.E. Swaner. Dan Swanner born 01 Jul 1928 and died 17 Jul 1929.Jennie Mai was living in Nashville in the early 1950's. Margaaret Gill married Samuel M. Story (since you were asking about the Gill's).
My cousin lives in the area where the Gill Cem. is located. I would not be afraid to go up there. We climbed the hill to find the Robison Cem. about 5 yrs ago. I would probably go in the fall or early spring before it gets too warm. Just put your pants in your socks and spray well with bug spray and try not to get into high weeds. We looked and looked for the Swan Creek Cem and finally found it on someones property in the Cow Pasture. They are supposed to fence the Cemetaries in but many don't. Also they are supposed to provide you access to the Cemeteries. The Thorpe Cem. is located on my grandfather's farm. My Uncle bought it back in the 1970's and my cousin inherited it. She and her husband built a nice house behind the Cem. and they cleaned the Cem. up and fenced it in. That is what they all should do but not all do. Do you live in Lincoln County? Just wondered!! I went to McBurg, Dellrose and Boonshill schools in Lincoln Co. but graduated from Beech Hill in Giles Co. so I know that area well. Sorry that one of Duncan's e-mail's went to you. I'm sure it was intended for me. Hope you can figure out this info. I tried to keep mine to the point and not be 'nasty' If I accidently sent one to you, I am really sorry. My families are Storey/Story, Malone, Russell, Thorpe' Robison,Robinson, Douthit etc. and others that are married into our family like Swanner. Waiting to hear from you. Doris

It wasn't you that I had the problem with. It was MM Duncan who apparently lives in Washington State but is adding entire Cemeteries (including Shiloh at Dellrose TN)under her name. Most of my family including my parents, both sets of grandparents, great grandfather, Aunts, Uncles ect. are buried there and I asked her not to do that under her name because it takes control of our own relatives away from us and she took offense to my asking her not to do that. I don't understand why people want to take control of 100's of Cemeteries and thousands of people that they are not related to and do not know. I only do my and my husband's own relatives and friends! Sorry that you thought that you might have said something wrong.
Now I will tell you what I found out about the 'Gill' Cemetery. It is located two miles SE of McBurg TN on the East Fork of Leatherwood Creek, on top of a hill in the woods. I realize that this still doesn't tell you exactly where it is but that is the information that is in the Lincoln County Cemetery book. I have a friend who is on the board at the Genealogy Society in Fayetteville that I trade information with. I asked another friend who lives in that area to call my cousin to see if she can tell us where the Gill Cemetery is. I used to live up that 'holler' and my school bus driver was a 'Gill'. I will call my cousin myself if necessary. She doesn't have e-mail and we loaned our Cell phone to my 'mail carrier' son today. We live in the recent bad weather zone and the roads and streets are really slick and in bad shape here. Hope this helps a little. Doris (Storey) Garrett
|Doris (Storey) Garrett||Samuel Loyd Storey|
Samuel Loyd Storey was the son of Edward Farris Jr. and Sarah Frances (Hampton) Storey. Edward Farris Jr. is the brother of my great grandfather Moses Calvin Storey. Moses Calvin Storey was with Robert E. Lee when he surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant in Appomattox VA April 9-15, 1865 which ended the Civil War.

Try contacting the Lincoln Co. Genealogical Society, 1508 West Washington St., Fayetteville TN 3734-2711. Or contact Dora Whisenant (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com for the information that you need. Dora can probably tell you where the Gill Cem. is located. It is probably a Family Cem. located on private property. I have been waiting for the Genealogy Society to publish a new Cem. Book so that I can purchase one myself. Let me know if you are not able to get the information and I will see if I can get the information for you. Doris (Storey) Garrett

I live in Washington State. When I photographed headstones in TN, it was because I was going through the area. I have no idea about Gill Cemetery. Sorry!
