Bio Photo Welcome -

We are doing a holy service by remembering the dead, and preserving history.

I think we all have a piece of the puzzle and if everyone contributes, questions will be answered.
please note - FINDAGRAVE as the name implies is a grave registration site and NOT a genealogy site. Although it can be very useful for genealogy.

This a wonderful site for remembering people. Peoples lives are fascinating and they deserve to be remembered and documented.

Please remember we are not just entering names or stones, but real people. Please ask yourself if your memorial is search-able. All memorials should have last names. Women who never marry, and children don't have maiden names. There is no maiden name unless the name changes. Also please do not use ().

Please do NOT create duplicates.

If you notice any mistakes, please let me know, and I will be happy to fix them. Nobody is perfect, we are all fallible human beings mostly doing the best we can at the moment.

We are merely stewards of 'our' memorials - we manage them and are entrusted with their care and maintenance, but we do not technically 'own' them.

Please read the FAQs (frequently asked questions). Thanks, and please try to resolved unknown burials ASAP.

Please free to use any of my photos with appropriate citations. Will also add updates, -the more info, the better. I don't have a policy about transfers - ask and we can work it out.

"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always." (author unknown)

Matchekosky memorial
Thanks for the correction. I put Bona in the wrong name field. She was Sr. Mary (Frances) Bona Matchekosky.

Donna,
I am the great great great Grandson of Isaiah and searched out the gravesite only to find most were overgrown. It was so great to see your photos. Thank You, Thank You for your ongoing efforts. Thought I'd provide some input - I am still fairly new to find a grave, so let me know if I should send to someone else on creating add'l connections.

Isiah's son is Simon - located in same graveyard, Simon's son is Moses located in Furman cemetery in Yagerville. There are photos etc posted by:

RE: thank you
You are very gracious to accept my edits and obits. I am going thru the Kingston Freeman looking for more of my New York family. It is so much fun finding all the old articles.

Thank you again

RE: George Ricard.
Thank you Donna.
I got stuck having to fix it as I was the one who piqued my wife's interest again. Was reading about the Williamsburg Bank Tower having been turned into condos and she goes that one of her relatives was president of the bank. That was George. There's even a street named after him in Queens.
My wife has over 100 relatives buried in Green-wood in 3 different plots so we do "know" the place fairly well.

Would you like ownership for the Hawk memorials? I'm happy to transfer them if you're related.
Cheers,
Rhonda

RE: thank you
I'm happy to help Donna. All of my family is in the midwestern US and I'm so grateful for people entering information on my family members. I wanted to contribute in their honor. I hope to take more pictures at Riverside in the coming week or weeks.
With warm regards,
Rhonda
