My connection to Alexander Cemetery is one of family. My great-grandfather, Thomas Pinckney Tidwell, gave the land for the cemetery in the late 1870's in the midst of a heated debate among the citizens of Alexander regarding the refusal of a burial of a local Mexican who lived and worked in the town's burial grounds. My great-grand father stipulation that his land would be used for a cemetery and that no one would ever be turned away for burial due to race, religion, affiliation, and any factor which might be the cause of prejudice. My parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and other family members are buried in the Alexander Cemetery. In 2007, I petitioned the Texas Historical Commission for the historical marker which appears in the cemetery. The Alexander Cemetery has a rich history, which I researched and provided to the state for marker approval. It is my hope that people who have families buried there will not abandon their heritage, but will continue to honor the memory of those who caused them to be who they are today.
My bio includes: Graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a BBA, Retired Executive Vice President of a national association, two marriages (divorced then widowed),two grown children (son and daughter) and three grandchildren (girl and two boys), an active interest in history and geneaology along with photography, writing, and travel.

I am married to Thomas Lee Scott, who is the son of Charlie, and grandson of Lorena Tidwell.I have been doing online geneology research the past couple of days and was happy to see the info you posted about the Alexander Cemetery. Tom & I used to visit Hardy & Lorena years ago when they were alive and have visited the cemetery, but it is wonderful to find online photos of family graves to add to our family tree. Thank you!!
