Permission Granted to download or save for use at your discretion, any photos taken to fulfill F.A.G. Requests, or any photo of my direct family I have posted. Please attribute me if posted on those "paid" sites, ie Ancestry. Photos of the World War II crewmen were given by their family members and they shared them for the Memorials.
Genealogist, 30 plus years, DAR, Colonial Dames XVIIC, Mayflower. Would do Digital pics of Fayette and Scott Co, and Bourbon/Paris Cem, KY only. As volunteers for Find a Grave, my partner Clinton Slayton and I often take photos of everyone in the plot. We post ones that have no Memorial, and will be happy to transfer anyone of your family to you if they are not part of our lines.
We also have a private research project called the "Sharon Belle B-17 Memorial Association",to identify the American crewmen of the B-17's flown from England during World War II, particularly "The Sharon Belle". She crashed on 30 Nov 1943 near Helmdon, England, early morning at 0819 hours, on a mission to Germany. The mission was scrubbed due to bad weather. The ten brave men our Country lost were: Lt. William Murray Holland Capt. Richard W. Pugh, new Commanding Officer. 1st Officer, Leighton D. Patterson 2nd Lt. William S. Munro T/Sgt Thomas D. Glaspell T/Sgt Billy Freeman S/Sgt Dean Landfear S/Sgt Charles E. Slayton (uncle of Clinton's) S/Sgt Harry A. Scott S/Sgt Henry P. Brannan
Crewmen were often assigned to fly on other B-17's with other crews so there is an overlap with various planes. Another research project is to identify the crewmen of the World War II,B-17 "Hell From Heaven Men", that flew under Capt. Richard Ezzard of the 19th Bomb Group. The last mission was in the Pacific with Australian navigator Allen Thompson. Except for Mr. Thompson most of the crewmen are now deceased. Any information on any of these crewmen is welcomed.
