Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am in my 80's, live in Wake Forest NC, and am researching my paternal Bell line, maternal Blakely line and the myriad of other lines that make up who I am today. I very much appreciate this website and have suggested it to others. I'm married to a wonderful man with whom our blended family results in ten children. They are all grown and reproducing, resulting in 21 grandchildren, and fourteen greats. I am a singer and currently sing only in my church choir. Until a year ago I was doing shows, singing big band, old standards, etc. We lived the RV life style for ten years, full time, during which time I sang mostly at RV parks, occasionally at a church social function. Thank goodness my voice is younger than the rest of me.

Keep in mind that I can't link a parent to their children. You have to make the link from the child's memorial.

Using your information, I will request the links for you. And, I'll add the list of children in the bio section of Affa's memorial.

I'm not sure why your email was returned; except I was away from my computer for half of July and August. If your email had more information, please re-send it. I should receive it now.

I was pleased to see your flower gesture and especially pleased to see your comments on the chalk talks. Otto is my husband's grandfather and remembers him well - has many anecdotes. It is said that Otto was the only man who literally worked in his garden with white gloves on and not a smudge on the gloves when he finished. Are you related to Otto? If so, we have much to share.

RE: #32606759 Mary Ann Blackman Blakely
She is listed with her parents, son, and siblings in Montrose cemetery although her actual burial location is Minnesota. This is not a duplicate memorial and should be kept. I've made notations regarding this memorial and referenced her other memorial. You can see her Montrose Cemetery stone at

Since there are several people who are interested in deleting this memorial, I would prefer to keep it at this time.

Hi dbelle,

I got involved with this situation a few weeks ago. Attached are the emails I got from another member and my email to the manager of the other record and her response.

I received the attached email regarding the two records for Mary Blakely. I havenít worked with a situation where there is a centotaph for an individual so do not know how to handle it. I agree that it is confusing for anyone seeing the records. Do you know how best to merge them into one page? I have made the reference on my record for her to indicate her centotaph in Montrose Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
> Find A Grave contributor Robin Williams Lebo - Navy Veteran, USS Acadia has made a suggestion to you regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Mary Blakely. There are two pages for one person making it look like he had two spouses. Please contact the other person and merge into one page. Thanks. It will be much easier.

Both memorials should be kept. Not only are they in two ifferent cemeteries, but they are in two different states. The one in Montrose Cemetery is with her parents, siblings, and son Clement. Should this be deleted, someone will find it again and enter a new memorial. I've made notes and referenced your memorial for her in Wisconsin.

You will often find husbands who had more than one wife listed with each wife.

These memorials should be kept and notes made regarding the relationships.

RE: Clark Gaylord Bell
Archibald Ladd is my 4th great grandfather. My lineage is through his son William--Peter J.--Edwin P. and my grandmother is the last with the Ladd name--Peryl E. I have been in contact with some other relatives and am filling in the blanks.

RE: duplicate memorials
The information regarding the transfer of a memorial can be found on the "Find a Grave" WEB site. Click on "Help with Find a Grave" (in the "Actions" column); then select "Editing and Correcting Memorial Information".

If you are the closest relative, the memorial should be transferred to you. You can then update that memorial and delete the duplicate that you entered. If the person who added the original memorial is not a relative, she might be willing to simply delete her memorial.

I have discovered that it can be two or more weeks before some people respond. In some cases, I get no response at all. If there is no response after 30 days, you can send an E-mail directly to "". Unfortunately, I sometimes have waited more than 60 days to get a response from the Find a Grave staff. (There also is information regarding slow responses in the "Help with Find a Grave" section.)

Alternatively, you can request that any missing information be added to the original memorial. When that is completed, you could delete your duplicate memorial.

It can be a slow and annoying process. Good luck!
