My Generations Past|
Why do I search? Why do I need to Know About these past generations of so long ago. What were they like and how would they feel ,that eleven generations later wonder about them, still I am a part of them and they are a part of me. It took every single one to make this family. As I search for my history with each and every fact I grow closer and closer to my generation past. When I came across a picture that was 100 years old I look through all the faces and all the stories left untold. Like the man that looks like my son when I look into his eyes or the woman with her baby on her hip holding her head up high. As I search into the night, I feel myself grin maybe if I had met these people, we may not even be friends, But even if we weren't, they are still important to me. Every one of them contributed to my "own" family As my journey continues what a feeling I get Knowing 300 years before me they stepped where I step. To some it may seem like a waste or too much of a task, But for me it's a treasure to know about.
The poem was written for Carolyn Jividen Miller by Toby Browning at Lazarus Department Store in the Furniture Department where Toby worked Barboursville, WV 1999
"Not to know what happened before we were born is to remain perpetually a child. For what is the worth of a human life unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history"
-Cicero (106 - 43 B.C.)
A Cemetery exists because every life is worth loving
I will allow everyone to use my photos for their Family History. In my opinion, family photos, including my headstone/marker photos need to be distributed between family members. The more people that have copies of them, the more likely they are to survive for several generations. No photos are to be used for Profit!!!!

Judy, I'm trying to locate direct descendants of Karl E. Herde who died in Aiken, South Carolina. His wife was Edna Brown Herde and they were both from Oklahoma. Are you related, or could you refer me to someone who may be? Thank you for any help.

Do you happen to know what happened to James M. Cole, Nancy Cordill's second husband? Time and place of death, etc?
|Gillespie Cemetery Association||Nancy Cordill Harlow|
Judy: Thank you for confirming and submitting the additional information for your great-great-grandmother's memorial in Gillespie Cemetery. I have added it and listed you as the source. Let us know if there is anything you'd like added or changed. We prefer to manage the memorials for this historical cemetery. However, we always work with families to make sure their ancestors are honored and that the information is accurate. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns. ~ Gillespie Cemetery Association

|John Manning||Spouses of Francis Smith|
I am doing a research project, part of which includes the McNeese family. I just created an entry for "Enid Matilda McNeese" who was married to Francis Smith. They are both buried at Miller, the same tombstone according to the Miller spreadsheet. Your entry on Francis says he had another spouse named Martha Mork. Do you have any further information on her? I assume that she was his first wife.
