Retired legal secretary for oil and gas attorney, Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas. Graduated at Wheelus High, Wheelus AFB, Tripoli, Libya, North Africa, 1965. I enjoy genealogy very much-- "connecting the dots." You meet lots of nice people while going down that road.... and, Find A Grave is an ingenious way of keeping up with our ancestors.
The Hardamon name is spelled "Hardiman" in Limestone County AL and Giles County TN... somewhere in the shuffle when the Hardimans arrived in Natchitoches Parish LA, the name changed to "Hardamon." However, in the family bible it is spelled both ways...lol
NORTH CAROLINA surnames: FOSTER, MASTIN ARKANSAS surnames: SMITH, PATTERSON, NICHOLS LOUISIANA surnames: HARDAMON, RUSSELL, DEMPSEY, NORSWORTHY, HALL, HARRINGTON, TEXAS surnames: ELLIS, COBLE, FOSTER, HARDAMON LIMESTONE COUNTY, ALABAMA - SURNAME HARDIMAN
Genealogists, please do not forget to include a woman's maiden name..! We tend to get lost in the genealogy shuffle....

 | Jessie Antilley Record added: Apr 02, 2013 Find A Grave Memorial# 107729029
He was a son of Gus Antilley-according to the WWI Draft Registration he was born 3/26/1883-Louisiana Death index lists his death as 8/6/1944
According to the 1910 census Gus Antilley was a married 4 times-children by at least 3 wives. | | | mary beth marchant
 | RE: Gus Antilley Thanks for your reply. The Robert squares with some census records but the 1880 census recorded him as D A along with his father who left Texas and moved in with him sometime before 1880. I am trying to determine whether the purported birth date is 1847 or 1859. Every census decade I found Robert A. or D. A. gives him a birth date of 1859 but the death certificate transcript says 1847 and gives his father as David which was not true-father was Henry. I don't know if there was a David and a Robert or if the two or one and the same. I do know my Antilley kin remember Uncle Gus coming to visit them in Taylor County, Texas from time to time. I have been told that by two different family members, one in his late 70's and the other in her middle 80's. If he was born in 1847 he was son of his father's first wife-if born in 1859 he was son of his father's 2nd wife or perhaps there was only one wife and a purported name of the first wife is completely wrong. It is a puzzle that may never be solved.
I would rather you kept the memorial. The Antilley children were my great aunts and were my father's first cousins with exception to one who was first cousin and also brother in law as he married my mother's sister.
If there is no tombstone, I may just change everything I have and leave off the fist wife entirely. | | | mary beth marchant

I was wondering if there was a tombstone for Gus Antilley. I am trying to figure out for sure if he was born in 1847 or if he was in fact born in 1859. His father was Henry Patrick Antilley-his son Thomas Henry Antilley married my great aunt-Thomas Henry Antilley's son married my mother's sister.
Gus is listed in Natchitoches Parish, La age 21-the problem is this: there is a listing with parents for a Robert A. Antilley in 1860-age 1 and age 11 in Guadalupe County, Texas census. I am trying to decide whether Robert A. Antilley was actually Gus Antilley or not. I have spoken with Antilley family members whom I grew up with in Taylor County, Texas and they remember Uncle Gus coming to visit them from time to time. I am working on a new Antilley family history for a couple of family members and I want to be sure I am correct. Regards, Mary Beth Marchant | | | Polly Fry Hagerman

 | RE: Alford Thank you for assisting. I am attempting to link Isham Alford to records showing his participation in the American Revolution as well as determine links whoever his father is. Organizing the children and grandchildren in FIND A GRAVE might give us a clue. I would be pleased to receive the memorials.Added by Thomas on Apr 12, 2013 12:16 PM | | | dmeans5
