I am a Western Shasta county California history buff and family historian. |
Being driven it turns out you spend alot of time in old cemeteries. So I started taking pictures and taking names. My FAG is a result of this and it of course is a work in progress.
I am affiliated with the Happy Valley cemetery in Olinda Shasta Ca...first burial was 1884 formerly known as the Oak cemetery.
please visit my link below.
My brother and myself have put together the first written history of our community. Our families being early pioneers of the area. After years of research and interviews, which were loads of fun, we published.
"Red Dirt Pioneers"
A story of the settlement of the community of Happy Valley and the village of Olinda. Beyond facts and figures, it is a human story packed full of anecdotes, stories and remembrances from voices of the past.
Feel free to contact me regarding family transfers or reliable additional information.
Thanks for comin' by!

Thank you for accepting my edits on Velma Chaplin.
My husband and I visited the Texas Springs area in hopes of finding the cemetery there but there were 4 large German Shepards running lose and we were unable to get out of our car. I understand there are several Huffords buried in that old cemetery - would like to find out who is buried there?
Thank you for all of your work. Sandy parks
Relative to John W. Hufford and my great, great great Grandfather was Hezikiah Hufford who died in Iowa.............his father John then moved West to California.

I have just found your photos of the grave marker for my great grand uncle, Robert Thomas Edwards. Would you give me permission to use it on his profile page on my Ancestry.com family tree?

I'm sorry to use the public message, but can't seem to connect. I really don't think Aunt Ella was born in Colorado, and I'm very curious about where you located information to indicate that she was.
Thanks for the work you do with find a grave.

I've added Abraham and Virlinda's tombstone pictures to their memorials in Stone's Chapel Cemetery. I was glad there was room for them, I'm not sure what else is on there.
Could you please help me find Igo cemetery? I went up there today to get four grave photos and even the locals had me going in different directions! I found Ono Cemetery. Thank you!

|Wade Hicks||RE: Verlinda Marshall Vanhoy|
Tnanks for contacting.
I am Betty Hicks, wife of Wade. I do all of the computer stuff.
I am the Great Grandaughter of Clayton & Mary Walker Vanhoy. Clayton's dad was James and his Grandfather was John, from North Carolina. Mary's dad was Robert William Walker and Martha Love Walker. Mary's brother, William Robert Walker married married Elizabeth B. Van Hoy, daughter of Abraham & Verlinda Marshall Vanhoy. Abraham & Verlinda were the parents of your Mary Luzina Walker who married Alfred Walker, your direct ancestor. Alfred was from another family of Walkers from North Carolina BUT he is related through a different line than mine.
That said, I am 75 years of age and NEVER knew my Grandparents or Grandparents except through the paper trail I have made. I do have pictures of My Great Grandparents - Mary & Clayton and their family. And have pictures of my Grandparents, Alice Annette Van Hoy and her husband.
My father was 50 when I was born. His parents died when he was 12 and his grandparents were already deceased by the time he was born. So you see, no faces except for pictures.
I would love to have your family line and would give you mine. Also, if you don't have it, I would share your family line BACK for you. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org directly and we will discuss who may have been that face you saw in Washington. I do have the lines of your Great Grandparents and some of the "kids" so maybe we can figure it out from there.

Verlinda was married to My Great Grandfather's Uncle Abraham Vanhoy. I would love any info you have on the family and pictures. I will share my family if you want.
Betty from Missouri.
