|Jan. 29, 2014 - Today I read an article entitled "Illinois Ancestors: Genealogy sites ranked worldwide" (http://www.news-gazette.com/living/2014-01-29illinois-ancestors-genealogy-sites-ranked...) this is an excerpt from the last sentence of the second paragraph which reads: Find A Grave, purchased by Ancestry.com in 2013 but still free, has moved from No. 3 to No. 2. - - - I have been a member of Ancestry.com since 1997 and a contributor to findagrave.com for just over seven years. Both have improved greatly since 1997 so I am sorry to say I will not add any new Memorials to findagrave.com because the next thing you know the information which many people who originally added their family history to these "free sites" such as RootsWeb they no longer have control of their own family history and are no longer subscribing members of Ancestry.com. See findagrave.com, GenWeb and numberous State and County message boards and many other Ancestry.com customers are now paying for the information these people have added for their family histories to familysearch.org, Ancestry.com, findagrave.com, GenWeb and numerous chat boards. |

I got your updates for Maryanna "Maria" Czaja. Are you related? If so, I can make transfers.

I am David Flint Pickens gr gr granddaughter. I have just recently started researching the Pickens. How interesting they were. Maybe one day, we can meet. My gr grandfather was Alva Sylvanus Pickens, who is my grandmother Sarah Evelyn Pickens. She is my father, Robert Alvin Dexters mother.

Peggy Pickens-Trojan or anyone who can help...My third great grandparents are David F. Pickens (1822-1910) and Martha M. Neely (1830-1913). I need info on the parents of Martha M. Neely. I am tracing my maternal side and come to a dead end with Martha. Ruthi
PS thanks, Peggy for your helpful comments on David F. Pickens.

# 90430231 Thank you for posting a flower with info on his middle name and links to his parents. According the Find A Grave rules, the proper way to suggest a change is bu using the Edit key on the memorial, not by putting it on a flower.

Hello I've been doing some research on this branch. Is Henry Odus Clark # 82324996 the son of Henry Clay # 82323875 and Jennette E Clark # 82324267?

About half-way through your message, I began wondering why you, as a member, would post such negative comments to a fellow member.
Your own "assumptions" are made by thinking all my sources are listed on said memorials without "proper" research. My research spans 33+ years, so there are many sources and not all are listed.
I do not care to comment further except to say my research is always ongoing, with any errors corrected as they are discovered, which is why I have included "NOTE: This memorial is still being researched."
My final comments: Find-a-Grave is no place for your type of message; you should never correspond with fellow members without being respectful.
|Lee Hattabaugh||RE: James S & Betty J Pickens|
Peggy, thanks for the note, and you are welcome. However, I'm not a direct-line descendant; Our grandfathers were brothers. I will, however, maintain the pages, if you still wish to transfer them to me. Thank you. Lee
|Lee Hattabaugh||James S & Betty J Pickens|
I read through the bio you posted on James Pickens. If my searching is correct, Betty Jean's maiden name was Hattabaugh, daughter of Willie and Drucilla (Bolding). They are also buried at Oak Grove.
|Carolyn Schmid||Andrew Pickens|
I am also a Pickens (mother's side) and was wondering if you knew who Andrew's father was?
Also, if you know if Margaret Gillespie was born in 1740 in Virginia?
I am trying to piece together the Gillespie and Pickens families since several of my direct grandfathers had a middle name of Gillespie.
Thanks for any help you might have.
