Feb 28 -- Note that memorial updates will be slow for the next couple of weeks as other things in life are taking higher priority. I'll be back to normal by the middle of March.|
I only link to BURIAL UNKNOWN MEMORIALS in very limited circumstances. This is Find-a-GRAVE, not a site for building your family tree (try Ancestry.com or Rootsweb.com for that).
I've been into family history since the 1960's. I'm grateful that I started when I did as so much family information gets lost because we don't ask questions early on.
Find a Grave is a great site and powerful resource. Thanks to all who work so hard to fulfill its primary purpose - documenting known burials.
I'm paying particular attention to Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma, CA and Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA. I appreciate being able to help fill in for all that information lost in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.
The site has also provided a couple of wonderful finds regarding my family history --- primarily Nancy Brenneman Gast Rhodes (check her out!). Until I found her on Find a Grave, everyone thought she died in 1852. I'm hoping to be able to provide similar breakthroughs for others.
I'm happy to make changes and links for well documented information.

Thank you for sending me the links to Ellen Higby's parents. I have updated her memorial.
|Lindsay ||Request for Transfer|
Larry--Would you be kind enough to transfer the memorials for Ida M. Le Gal (#123072294) and her son Clarence Victor Le Gal (#123072112). Ida is my maternal Great Grandmother & Clarence is my Great Uncle. My Great Grandfather Clarence Lindsay Le Gal is also buried in Mountain View, but has no headstone. My Great Grandfather made ship wheels for the old sailing ships, hence the ship wheel with the broken spoke on my Great Uncle's headstone (signifies a life cut short). There was also another brother, Charles Richard Le Gal, who was killed in World War II. Many thanks.

Thank you for the correction. I appreciate it and the couple I mentioned were George's grandparents, not parents. Why I did that, who knows?

Just before requesting you link Henry Irving Rosekrans with his parents Isaac Newton and Florence Stetson Rosekrans, I contacted the creator of Florence's memorial, Andrew Martin Kolstee, requesting he change "burial unknown" to Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA. I recently discovered this burial location through California, San Francisco Area Funeral Home Records 1895-1985 on Ancestry.com.
I understand your hesitance to connect to an unknown burial. Perhaps I should have waited until Andrew changed the burial record before requesting the link from you. When I see the change has been made I will contact you again for the link.

Thank you very much for the wonderful pictures of the tombstone of Alexander and Ann Jane Duncan. I didn't have the burial place of Alexander Duncan and had the year wrong for his death --- didn't realize he was also buried at Mountain View. Thank you very much for creating his memorial and adding the pictures.
|Mark B.||Thank you|
Many thanks for both creating and for giving me the memorial for Joseph Silicani. I really do appreciate your efforts! ~Mark B.

|Mark B.||Silicani page transfer|
Could you be kind enough to transfer the pages for the Silicani ancestors of Juanita to me starting with her father Joseph? He is my great grandfather through my grandmother Juanita Silicani-Bregante. Many thanks to you for making this page and others.

Why are you reluctant to transfer? Is she a relative of yours?
|Chris PIGOTT||William H. PIGOTT, 1882, California|
Your memorial for William H. PIGOTT, who appears to have died in California in 1882, took my attention as it records him as a native of Sydney, N.S.W.
The only William H. PIGOTT to have been born in Sydney was William Henry PIGOTT, but he was not born until 1864, and was the son of William Hilson PIGOTT (an Australian Parliamentarian, who died in 1908) and his 1st wife Louisa. His father disowned his son's debts by public notice dated Apr 1890; I do believe that the son then went to America.
But this data does not fit the inscription on the stone at Cypress Lawns Cemetery, Colma, San Mateo County - it would if the date of death was instead 1902 - could this be possible? Do cemetery records confirm the burial date?
Even if it was wrong, there is then the problem of his relationship to Louisa - was she instead his mother?
Just asking, in case you have any more details on this William H. PIGOTT?
Chris PIGOTT, Potts Point, N.S.W.
