Thomas Jefferson Babcock 1804-1892
Hi Jeff:

I found your name attached to Find A Grave for the above named person. He is my 3rd Great Grandfather. Do you have any idea who in NY I need to contact for copies of vital records? I would be interested in Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates.

This is for genealogical research. My maiden name is Babcock also. Thomas Jefferson Babcock's son John Wesley Babcock Sr. is my 2nd great grandfather, buried here in Minnesota.

I am actually working my way back to the Mayflower. I need this info to connect to Harris Babcock and wife Sally, then Capt. Joseph Babcock and wife Anna Harris. At that point Anna Harris' descendant from the Mayflower is proven.

John Rafferty
Visited St James Cemetery, spoke to office and there was no record of this Rafferty family. They admitted the old records were very hit & miss. I noticed on wall of office an old cemetery map with names. Long story short checked out 2 areas of Rafferty - found John, his wife Julia & a brother or son, Michael Henry. The cemetery now has their location in their records. Yea!

You'll notice on Julia's stone it reads 'MOTHER' on top & 'wife of John Rafferty' but it continues 'sister Mary A Rafferty' on front. Don't know what this means:(

I'm now curious - let me know if you know.

Uploaded pics, but plan on going back to clean stones & see if I can get better pics.
