Allen P. (Sam) McKinnon
BRISTOL — Allen P. (Sam) McKinnon, 96, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1908, in Bristol, the son of John and Addie (Hurlburt) McKinnon.
He owned and operated the Mobil Station in Bristol for 48 years. He was a member of the Bristol Fire Dept and Deputy Sheriff in Addison County for several years. He was a scholar of local American Indians.
He enjoyed his two trips with Keith Hall traveling to England, Scotland and Europe. He also made several trips to Nova Scotia to meet family members.
He is survived by son Rodney McKinnon and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hinesburg; twin sister Alice Parent of Bristol; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Zeno) McKinnon; son Thomas; and two sisters, Ruth McKinnon and Grace Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Donations may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, North Street, Bristol, Vt., 05443.
