Lt. Colo. John Wretts Hannay
Dear Sir , My Name is Belinda Rivas I am the Great Great Grand daughter Of Lt. Colo. John Wretts Hannay and Helen C. Brooks-Hannay . I've been doing my family tree and I'm wondering if you might know where I can find records or history books telling me what they did for our country. I'm not sure if I'm having a hard time because He was a British Soldier. If you know of any history books or such that could help me . I know they did something because they made their house a Historical land mark with a plaque bearing their names. Thank you Belinda

Cottrell additions at Shockoe
Thank you for sending interment card information, I already have all of that information as I have copies of interment cards I do not always add that information to the memorials I post. But I can since you ask on these three.

RE: William Perkins
Would the Richmond city limit line that you are using for reference be correct in 1873? I seem to remember that when the "Richmond City" district went back to include the outer neighborhoods about 1871, it included the Fairfield Township for Richmond,in Henrico County.
The Virginia, death and burials index 1853-1917 records his death location as Richmond, Va.
If you want to pursue his history and not have it on the Find A Grave message board, you may contact me direct at

RE: William Perkins
Everything I have indicates he died in 1873 in Fairfield Township, Henrico, County, city of Richmond. It seems he was still living in the household of his daughter Patsey and her husband Joshua B. Pierce. He was recorded in the 1870 census in this same location living with them.

RE: Martha A.P. Granger Chiles
I have Martha's birth as Aug 04, 1823 Virginia and death as Aug. 04, 1865 Virginia. Thanks!
Do you know if her son, William Henry Chiles born 1848 is buried there also?
