Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a former Race Driver who competed in Midget Racing beginning in 1969. After a number of years during which my wife refused to allow me to race, I divorced her and returned to racing in 1980. My career was, for all practical purposes, ended in a crash at Manzanita Speedway in 1982 when I received a broken neck and back. I have driven on several occasions since in an effort to help the car count locally. I served on the Board of Directors of the Ariz. Midget Racing Assoc. for 7 years and served as the Race Director for 5 years.

I worked with Buzz Rose (Rose Racing Publications) and Steve Estes on the research for Buzz's book "Racers at Rest" for the last 2 years.

Steve Estes and I co-authored the "Racers at Rest 2012 Revised Supplement" and started the "Racers at Rest" Project in conjunction with the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum Foundation.

Thank you for the posting on Find-A-Grave. I do not want a transfer but I would like, with your permission, to copy his bio to my family tree. Of course you would be noted as the biographer.

Harold Haberling
Hi Don,
I just posted the photo of Mr. Haberling's gravestone at Greenwood. His wife Betty Jean is buried next to him. I have her photo also and can add it if you create the memorial. Or, if you prefer, I'd be happy to create her memorial, add the photo, and transfer to you.
Regards,
Barbara

Lee Miller
I found the exact spot where Lee Miller is buried and marked it with a cross in the photos but there is no Headstone. Would you like me add the photo or I can email it you so you can decide what you would like to do? Either way is fine with me. Lisa

The family would be honored for you to do so.

If more information is needed please contact me.

RE: Dean and Chester Gardner
That would be great. I can drive okay now, I just have a little trouble. Mostly the pain is when I unexpectedly reach for something or try to lift something too heavy.

I would be fun meeting up and Inglewood. There is a lot of "uncharted territory" to be done so maybe we could pick a spot and get it photographed. I am slowly working my way through one area, and when it rains, I head for the mausoleum and do some in there.

So let me know when the next Legends event is. I think it would be a gas! [racing pun!]

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too.

Sincerely,
Bonnie

RE: Dean and Chester Gardner
You're welcome, Don. Yes, it is a shame about the condition of some cemeteries. But what is worse is the condition of that whole neighborhood. To think that they don't want people to go into the mausoleums by themselves because someone might "follow you in" is not saying much about what they think of their own neighbors.

If you know of any more drivers buried around here, just send me a message. If you do photo requests, I will probably not claim them in time. We have a couple of volunteers around here that I swear do nothing but monitor their e-mails all day for photo requests. They are always claimed on the same day they are made. Interestingly, the requests at Lincoln are going pretty much ignored. Their office is open on weekdays but is only open from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday, so I rarely get there anymore. Someday I will try to go and just photograph all that I can.

Anyway, stay in touch. I was not able to go to that function you told me about in Perris on October 23rd. I had really wanted to go but I just can't drive much (yet). Thanks for asking about my shoulder. I can't believe how much pain it still gives me, especially when I first wake up in the morning. The surgeon said that is normal. It has been 3 months but sometimes it feels more like 3 weeks!!

So take care and let me know about any other drivers.
Best Regards,
Bonnie

PS - Did you ever see the original version of the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" ?? I remember there was a scene where they stole J.C. Agajanian's car and the scene was filmed at Ascot. Oh, those were the good ole days. *Sigh*

Ooops!
I meant to say "take care" but I left a word out. Silly me.
