If I've created a memorial, then I have a photo of the tombstone too. If it's not posted, just let me know and I'll be glad to do it.
The Story Tellers...We Are The Chosen
My feelings are that in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us, "Tell our story." So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves.
How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors you have a wonderful family.. you would be proud of us? How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who I am and why I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying, I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today.
It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us that we might be born who we are; that we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are them and they are us.
So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take their place in the long line of family story tellers. That is why I do my family genealogy..... and that is what calls those young and old to step up..... and put flesh on the bones.

 | Hollywoood Cemetery Visit Hi Cristie; My husband and I plan on coming to Jackson TN ( Madison County ) for our first visit to see the Barnes Family Plot at the Hollywood Cem. Any suggestions where we should try to stay, that's safe and sound and yet close. He got off work and we have a day to stay and spend the night. Thank You. Question: The wife of A D Barnes... Daisy Mai Guy Barnes I can't find her Death cert nor know where she is buried. Her daughter Louise is Louise B McCarter by A D Barnes. Do you by chance have a Daisy Guy Barnes or last name different. Maybe she remarried after A D Died. Thank You.Added by Cღ on Jun 14, 2013 8:41 PM | | | Donald Lee Morton

 | Mary Will Corbett 24927521 Hi: You created the memorial and later did the headstone photograph that I requested. I find I am related to most of the Tennessee Corbett's, but cannot seem to connect this young baby to anyone. Per chance do you know or can you find out if any other Corbett's are buried in the area around Mary Will Corbett. I will greatly appreciate what ever you can do on my behalf.

 | Samuel Robert Barnes and Son Willie Barnes Cristie; I have cried seeing all these Barnes buried in the Hollywood Cemetery that you took the great close up shots of these old Headstones. Samuel Robert Barnes I felt had to be there with his wife and children as she was. I could not ever find Willie Barnes on the census after 1880. Thank you for posting the photos you took of Samuel and his son Willie that share a headstone. I hope I am reading that Willie died Jan 12 1880 born May 19 1862. They left Williamson Co TN to Nashville Davidson Co TN died there and buried in Jackson Madison Co TN. Thank You. You're an Angel here on Earth!Added by Cღ on Jun 03, 2013 8:14 PM | | | Cღ
 | Samuel Barnes Hello Cristie; Thank You for your awesome contributions in taking treasured photographs of the headstones and adding the Memorials as you do so uniquely well. Another Find A Grave member Descendant Seeker had a Memorial at Hollywood Cemetery no headstone photo on a Samuel Sam Barnes died 1900. Since I am looking for the husband of Jane Rebecca " Jennie " Redmon which was the headstone photo you took and posted on Find A Grave at Hollywood. Do you by chance have a photo of a Samuel " Sam " Robert Barnes that died about 1900 in TN and buried at Hollywood Cem.? On ancestry.com there are three TN Death Cert on the same name. One even posted a headstone on a Samuel R Barnes in Williamson Co TN Death Year 1908 buried beside a Mary Barnes died 1907. I want to get the correct Samuel Robert Barnes Headstone and year of his death to link with Jane Rebecca " Jennie " Redmon - Barnes. Thank You much more than you know.Added by Cღ on Jun 03, 2013 3:43 PM | | | Cღ
 | Barnes Memorial's Thank You Cristie. I can't find anything on A D Barnes wife my great great grandmother's sister, Daisy Guy Barnes. Mother of Louise Barnes. Daughter of Dora Guye is mis spelled on the headstone that Ollie Guy Barnes did incorrectly her other daughter and father James Guye which are my great great great grandparents as Guy/e. Do you have a photo on anything Daisy Guy/e Barnes? Thank You much. I 've never been to Hollywood Cemetery. When I do visit this summer, I guess I need a map right ? Of where these Headstones to visit them.Added by Cღ on Jun 02, 2013 9:23 PM | | | | [View all messages...] |
