POCATELLO - Floyd Arthur Gummersall, 76, of Pocatello, Idaho, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at a local care center. He was born May 10, 1923, in Turner, Idaho, to Frank Arthur and Bertha Mae Griffith Gummersall. He was the 10th of 13 children. He came to Pocatello as a young boy. Later he worked for his brothers at their service station. He also worked at a ranch in Soda Springs, Idaho, in the summer. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in the Southwest Pacific until August 1943.
He met and married Joyce Maxine Burton June 10, 1947. Floyd had his own service station, and later entered a business partnership with his brother at Floyd and Cec's Corner. in 1948, he started working for the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired after 33 years, working as a brakeman and conductor. When he wasn't working for the railroad, he and his wife did floor covering for about 15 years.
Floyd is survived by the following children, Richard V. (Marion) Gummersall, RaNae (James V.) Worthen, Linda (Charles)Burrup, Nancy (Daniel H.) Germain, Laurie (Michael D.) Carlson, Sally(A.Wayne)Bennett; 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Peterson, Arvada, CO, Roma (Dale) Cox, Sequim, WA, Ruth Hansen (Jack) Holt, Gig Harbor, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Colleen, six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 12, 2000, in the Henderson-Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 N. 15th Ave, Pocatello, ID with Charles C. Burrup conducting. Interment was in the Mountainview Cemetery in Pocatello, ID.
