Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am pleased to honor those who have served in the military in the defense of the United States, regardless of the time period.

I was born in Arkansas in 1952. The first Memorial Service I attended was in December for my maternal uncle, Columbus Washington Wilson, who was my grandfather, William Augnet Wilson's older brother. During that time, in Mayflower, Arkansas, December weather came in and it was cold, and I had never in my 16 years at the time attended a funeral. It was a new experience which was aided by Alta May Dennis nee Wilson, my mother, who took me to the funeral. All of the living family was still there, and it was a mystical experience.

My emphasis, having served in the USAF and LAARNG, is to honor the individuals with their units and recognize for a memorial for their sacrifice when others stayed behind and their courage and honor given this country.

I am sixty years old, but I never tire of this endeavor. It is my hope that I can continue on this quest until my last breath.

RE: Jonathan M Dennis
I searched the Pettit line in my family tree and didn't find A Rutha Pettit. What were her parents names and birth date.?

The Pettit line in my family starts with a Mary Anne Pettit Nixon(1775-1810) married to my William Nixon(1766-1841), my 5th great grandfather, they lived in Washington County, Ohio, he was born in PN. From there it goes to James Pettit, his father James Pettit, his gf James Pettit, to his g gf Thomas Pettit, to his gg gf Thomas Pettit, to his ggg grandfather Thomas Pettit who came to America in sometime after 1629, he died 1688 Suffolk Co, NY.
Thomas Pettit the III had 9 brothers and sisters maybe she could be in their lines.

RE: Jonathan M Dennis
Found a census fron 1870, St. Mary's, Perry, MO, or Perrysville, MO Postoffice

Johnathan Dennis born PN?
Sarah Ann born MO

Their children:
Sarah
Christopher
James
Malinda
Louisa
Sophia
Mary

The dates and age match the years Janathan & Sara were born. And the names of the children tell me this is correct too because her mother was a Sophia and her father was Christopher, and they named two of their children after them.

RE: Jonathan M Dennis
I do have a record that shows that Sarah Ann Gross and Jonathan Dennis were both in Perryville Missouri, so I guess that fits, because he was there with his mother and siblings at that time. The record shows they were married there 1874, but there is a record that also shows he married a Mary A Edmond that same year. So either Mary A is Sarah Maryann Gross, not Sara Ann, and she previously married someone by the name of Edmond, or he married Mary A Edmond, she died soon after, and he then he married Sarah A Gross later that same year. Though I see no records of them having children so maybe Sarah Ann died right after they were married.

RE: Jonathan M Dennis
Do you have any dates on Rutha Pettit, I'll search the Pettit's in my NIXON family line and see if they are related. It would be interesting if I'm related through the Pettit/Nixon families and my husband through the Gross/ Dennis families!

RE: Jonathan M Dennis
Thank you for all the information, I came across Johnathan Dennis while doing my husbands family tree. I noticed the Pettit name you listed, they are in my family tree on the Nixon side, my mothers fathers family name. The first Pettit that shows up in that tree is a Mary Ann Pettit Nixon(1775-1852), she married my 5th great grandfather William Nixon. He was born in PN and died in Ohio, so I assume she lived in Ohio too, wonder if she is in your family tree too.

Yount Community Cemetery
Do you know if the Yount's in the Yount Community Cemetery in Yount, Perry, MO are related to the Yount's of California, particularly Yountville, CA, named for George Calvert Yount who's family lived in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Jonathan M Dennis
Find A Grave Memorial# 45841517
Birth: Jul. 16, 1828
Death: Nov. 6, 1894
Spouse:Mary Ann M. Edmond Dennis (1848 - 1908)
Burial:Yount Community Cemetery
Yount, Perry County, Missouri, USA

Do you know if this is the same Jonathan Dennis born 1828, MO, who married Sarah Ann Gross, daughter of Christopher Gross and Sophia (Yount) Gross? The birth dates match, the state matches and the fact that Sophia was a Yount and this is the Yount Cemetery makes me think this may be a match.

Thank you
Karrie G

Grandfather Transfer
Not a problem regarding the repetition. I'm glad to hear the transfer went through. This genealogy can get very confusing, and I sometimes find myself lost in the middle of it :)

Maternal Grandfather Transfer
Hi Jerry,

I have a message from September 23 to transfer to you your maternal grandfather's memorial. I see where I did a transfer of William Augnet Wilson some time ago, at least I think the transfer went through. Please let me know if it did not, and I will try again, or if there's another transfer you want me to make, please let me know. Thank You!
