Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a family historian who is motivated by a desire to pay proper respect to the memories of those who have gone before us. With the passage of time, the traces of people who have gone before us all but disappear from the view of the living, no matter their fame while alive. It is my goal to help reactivate awareness and concern for the past.

Outside of my own genealogical interests, I also work on creating memorials for Freemasons, with a a focus on members of Oriental Lodge, No. 33, A. F. and A. M. of Illinois, Chicago's oldest surviving masonic lodge founded in 1845 which had so many pioneer business and civic leaders on its rolls.

Edward Ross
Thank you for sending information. I have updated this memorial. Is Edward Ross your relative?

RE: Nelson W. Eastman
LOL. I am a Wilson/Kenyon descendant and related to close to 80% of any cemetery in Allegan. I live abt 600 miles away, and try to go back every other year. Each time I find something new. Makes the trip an adventure.
Good luck!!

RE: Nelson W. Eastman
Next time, if uncertain about a Union Vet, check the SUVCW burial site. Doesn't work for Rebels, unfortunately...LOL.
Nelson's 1890 federal census says he died in Dayton, Ohio. Hum...?
Anyway, glad I found him. He is suppose to have a CW headstone, should be easy to find. May say F.W. Eastman.

RE: Nelson W. Eastman
Record says he has a military headstone and cemetery records were checked.
I will delete my memorial, so you can move him back.
I am just related to him by the marriage of one of his children. Not a "direct"

RE: Nelson W. Eastman
I have been told a number of times that someone just "isn't there", only to get a photo later by another volunteer.
Many of Oakwood's headstones are covered by moss, etc. Last time I was there, it took an hour to find a cousin's stone, and then more time to get enough moss off to see her name.
And I even had a map from City Hall.
I have 4 relatives buried at Allegan, but no cemetery has a listing. Yet it is on the death certificate.

RE: Edna Gertrude Eastman VanPatten (1864 - 1947)

Yes it can be very difficult many times to locate a grave. If you like I can transfer then you can go ahead and link. Just send along a request to transfer through the memorial.

You have to check a reason, but if you looked I added I do not link to burial unknown, also is stated in my profile.

RE: Photo problems
Sorry I sent you a wrong number. The second number should be 130030054. The extra photo from 130030156 goes there. I have 16 more pages from this contributor mixed up in the same way. I am sending mine in to photo@ for correcting but I can only send mine, not yours. Or you can message him directly to move the photo to the correct page. Sorry I was so vague. Does this help?
