Eckerts in St. Louis
Hi, Jean. I noticed that you are into genealogy and are probably looking at Eckerts in St. Louis. I was wondering if you could please be on the lookout for information that might help me. According to an 1885 biography on Sebastian Eckert of De Kalb County, Indiana, his mother was an Eva Pfeiffer who had married Peter Eckert in Germany and had six children there. Peter died in March 1830 and Eva came with her children to America, arriving in August of that year. After temporary stops in Franklin County, PA and Wayne County, OH, four of children, Sebastian, Elizabeth (Sthair), Barbara (Reynolds) and Margaret, ended up in DeKalb County, IN. BUT, his biography says that his mother went on to St. Louis!! I can't imagine that she went there alone. She may have gone with the other child (one had died) named Eve. She may have gone with other relatives. She might even have remarried. She was born in 1797. I did see on Ancestry that there was an Eva Eckardt buried in Holy Ghost Cemetery in 1881, but it didn't give an age. At any rate, if you ever come across any Eve or Eva Eckert (or other spellings) that was born in 1797 in Germany OR any sign of her daughter who would have been born between 1816 and 1830 in Germany, in the St. Louis Records, I would greatly appreciate it!!! Thanks,
Natalie
