Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired high school history teacher, having taught in the public schools of St. Mary's County, Maryland. I am a native of Huntington, Suffolk County, New York.

I have been interested in visiting old cemeteries since I was a child, when cemetery visiting was a family activity.

I began a project during the American Revolution Bicentennial to update the cemetery lists held by the St. Mary's County Historical Society, Leonardtown, MD. This project, using high school students, extended into the early 1980s. Some cemetery lists were published in the "Maryland-Delaware Genealogist."

I worked with the GenExchange Project adding cemetery data from both Long Island, New York, and Calvert and St. Mary's counties in Southern Maryland. I have also worked with the longislandgenealogy.com site.

I am editor of the "Generator," the quarterly publication of the St. Mary's County Genealogical Society and am also 2nd Vice President of that organization. I am also the former Historian of Hollywood United Methodist Church, which owns two cemeteries: Joy Chapel in Hollywood, site of the former Joy Chapel M. E. Church, and Galilee Cemetery in Oakville, a formerly all-black congregation, now closed.

RE: Thomas ?
My father is Charles Norton Thomas from Baldwin NY. His father was Charles Graham Thomas and he died in his 40's. My mother's family was from Hicksville, the Challan and Heberer side. Don't have any John Thomases in my tree that I see.

Conklin/Foster
Hi David! Well, I'm finally part of the Find A Grave community and trying to post my own family links. Since you already created sites for my Conklin/Foster Family (and a great job) could you please transfer them to me so I can manage them. The #'s are 50942265,50942036,50984383,50984347 and 50984113.
Thanks,
Kim

RE: Sammis - Huntington, L. I.
Oh, you are welcome. I love "connecting" families. Marjorie's sister, Louise, was my husband's grandmother. My mother-in-law is named Marjorie in honor of her.

RE: Thrift - St. Aloysius, Leonardtowm
Glad I could help, I scan the Northern Neck News microfilm and when I find anything that I think someone else might be able to use I try to send it to them. I have gotten lots of help from Find A Grave and I am just trying to keep up the tradition. It's a great site for anyone looking for their roots. Marsha
