Bio Photo When my son was about six months old, I started back to college. An LDS branch genealogy library was just across the street from the college and I decided after class one day to go look up my family. LOL What an innocent I was!

Well, here I am 39 years later still looking up my family. Little rascals have hidden themselves very well!

I retired in 2014 and now spend entire days researching. I index records, spend hours combing through online databases, and post a grave every now and again.

To all the other volunteers at, thank you. This has become a marvelous tool and resource. Good luck and may all your ancestors have readable gravestones in accessible places.

RE: Very grateful for the obituary
You are very welcome. Since I am related to the Ankers it helped me unravel my tree a bit more also.

RE: Theodore Friebus Message
I found an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Saturday, December 29, 1917 that confirms death on December 26, 1917. He died in the wings of the theatre before his entrance on stage at the age of 38 years.

RE: Louis (Jim) Vantine
Thanks You're correct. I did switch them. Made correction to Jim's Memorial. b. 22 Jan 1938 d. 22 Aug 1987. Currently using the Michigan Death Record date. Hope to have a copy of his Obituary soon to add to Memorial. Jim died at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint while being treated for injuries received as result of a car accident. Again, thanks for your help.

RE: Question about Gorath Vogel
Yes, he was! And I just found this out working on my ancestry! No one tells my anything! I actually sent a correction in on the 1920 Census with Gorath and Emma B. (That one is REALLY messed up! Showing Joe Turner as Gorath's father). There is also a 6 month old baby listed with them and I am still trying to sort that out.

That one is Emma B Vantine Vogel. My grandmother is Emma NMI Meyers Vogel. They married 5 months after the final divorce (Which I found in The Portsmouth Times!)

My grandpa always called Granny by her maiden name, which in So. Ohio lingo was "Mars". I now believe that it was because she was the second Emma!

I have Emma B. marrying Brock/Brack/Neff in about 1828 in Maysville (can't remember if this is conjecture on my part. Don't seem to have documentation.)

My grandfather also lied about his age on the first marriage license, making him 21 instead of 18, in which case he would have needed parental permission. My dad tells me that Gorath's brothers 'ran her (Emma B) out of town and back to Ky. This makes me sad, except I would not be here if they hadn't. I somehow think that this may have not been what my grandpa wanted. He was a pretty quiet and brooding man. I loved him, though!
