Lottie Jane Denny Staughton
Hi. Lottie Jane Denny Staughton was my husband's great grandmother. I am trying to determine who her parents were.

I read her history on your memorial. The only source I have been able to find for her parentage was the 1880 Census which lists her father as Janas Denny and her mother as Elizabete. Can you tell me your source of her mother being Elisabeth Hannah Slade?
Another cousin in the family also lists Isaac William Denny as her father but he has no source for that name either. So all I have is the information on the 1880 Census. Further search on and the web has not, as yet, helped me at all. No others on member connect on have any sources to back up their information either.

If you have any sources or any other concrete information about Lottie's parents, I really would appreciate knowing them.

Thank you,
Bonnie Staughton

Soby Family of PA & NJ
I was amazed and delighted to find all the material you have posted on the Soby family, which I am researching for a close friend. Many thanks for all your work. However, you are missing two children of William Soby (1798-1892) and Lydia Lewis. There was a daughter Eliza (mislabelled as a male child in a couple of censuses)born about 1841. She was living with her parents until at least 1870. I have found no grave for her. Also, the Emeline Soby Williams, buried in Shawnee Cemetery, Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, whose listing you maintain was a daughter of William and Lydia. She appears in the family in the two 1850 censuses (one in Philadelphia, one in Beverly), and her death certificate gives her father's name as William Soby.

I am glad to know you have saved copies of some of the photos I took. Please, please feel free to post them. I am not holding any copyrights to them as I took them merely for any family members who were looking for their people. Consider them yours to do with as you wish.

Thank you for the compliment. I love taking photos, almost to the point of obsession (if it's not already obvious). Cemeteries are amazing places.

Thank you so much for your kind e-mail. I have transferred the memorial you requested, and I am more than happy to transfer more to you. It may take me a little time because life gets in the way of my hobbies, but I will definitely get to them over time.

Thank you again for your kind words.

Benjamin Ely Watson
I am interested in sharing information about the family of Benjamin Ely Watson and his parents, Elizabeth Ely and the Rev. John Watson. I am a descendent of Elizabeth through her first husband. My ancestor's were close to Benjamin and his siblings, so I am studying the entire family. One ancestor wrote a memoir of working at Benjamin's store in Sacramento during the Gold Rush (see I am writing a short biography of Elizabeth Ely to post at, and I will eventually post my information about Benjamin.
