I have been researching my family history for the last 33 years. I'm a proud native Texan and have a ton of roots in the Lone Start state.
I have documented nearly 35,000 ancestors and descendants in compiling my family genealogy. Have researched and found ancestors who served during in the French and Indian Wars, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican American War, Civil War, World War I/II, Vietnam, and even have two great-great grandfathers who served as Frontier Battalion Texas Rangers in the 1880s.
I teach genealogy classes at a local college, lecture at various local civic groups and schools, and write a syndicated genealogy newspaper column. I research cemeteries and fill photo request here on FAG from in the Tri-State area (northern Georgia, western North Carolina, and eastern Tennessee) of the Blue Ridge mountains.
I retired from the U.S. Navy in 1993 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer after 23 years active duty service in the surface and aviation communities. So I have a keen interest in documenting military services veterans and their final resting places.
Some of my primary paternal lines (first 7 generations) of interest include: Boswell, Clark, Mullin, Gilmer, Hurt, Hutchinson, Lange, Law, Leinweber, Magee, Mallory, Meek, Neese, Oglesby, Parry, Redus, Schmidt, Schneider, Schostag, Sheffield, Simmonds, Streuer, Van Horn, Wilson, Witt
Some of my primary maternal lines (first 7 generations): Burns, Carr, Faulk, Grohman, Leitsch, Ludwig, Munster, Schmidt, Smith, Winkler
If I have a memorial posted for one of your ancestors (not distant cousins, etc) and they are not some of my ancestors, I'm more than happy to transfer management of their FAG memorial to you. Just contact me or email me directly at the address below.

 | Seaside Cemetery Hello,
I take pics at the cemeteries in and around Nueces County.
As for Seaside, I will be more than happy to take photos of graves for you
But they only allow to get three locations at one time, and since I live across town I'm asking to call the cemetery and get locations as I have maps of all the sections, so I can take more than 3 photos at one time

 | Mongold You sent the following: I was wondering if you could confirm the information on this memorial for me. The actual person that somewhat matches the information you have here that is in my family is William H. Mongold who did serve in the 1 Regimeny, SC Rifles (Orr's). He was born on 25 Dec 1834 in TN, and died 19 Jan 1929 in Chattooga, Oconee, SC. His death certificate says he was buried in the Double Springs Church yard in Walhalla. I understand there are two Double Spring churches (Baptist and Methodist). Could you please tell me if you actually spotted this grave at the Baptist church as we always figured he was buried at the Methodist Double Springs. Thanks for any help you may give, Larry Van HornBrasstown NC
Answer: I was working from records in cemetery in this area from the Kennedy Room in Spartanburg Main Library, sorry. | | | Michelle ~ღ ƸӜƷ

 | RE: John Marshall Carter - 47142108 thanks for the photos | | | George Rogers Park
 | John Marshall Carter - 47142108 We could only find Almeda Patterson Carter and Ethel Carter next to her (stone front right). There was a unmarked granite marker next to Almeda (stone front left) with flowers, but no name on this marker. I have a picture of it if you are interested. Ask for DSC 0064-0069
If you still have this photo, please post it to the memorial. It is most likely his marker
also please send me a note when you do, as Find A Grave has deleted my photo request and I would not receive a notice. georgepark@sbcglobal.net
thanks

 | R. Van Horn I transfered to you as I am not a relative. I never received any other message concerning him. Mrs. Short always transfers people to me after I locate their graves and photograph their stones and have dates etc.. When she sets them up she just uses the epitaph information that her friend Nick provided her. She does it to honor him and I maintain them in memory of those who have passed on. | | | | [View all messages...] |
