No ma'am, I don't have a picture of Eva or know anyone who would. Her sister Roberta MAY HERR provided my cousin Imogene with some MAY family info, but that was before it was so easy to email pictures. Ms Roberta passed away in 2006 and the only email I had no longer works. Sorry. Doug

No, Nancy. I'm sorry. I don't. If I find one I'll try to add it. She is not my direct line. So glad you have fond memories of her.

Ur very welcome
|Erin Antley||RE: Question for you|
Hmm, that is an interesting mystery. I will definitely take a look. I am going over to my Mamaw's house today. She is Etta Mae Reeves Dean and she had lived in Marion her whole life. She is getting a little forgetful at 86 but she has always been a wealth of information about the folks in that area. She has a lot of relatives buried in the Concord and Fairview cemeteries. I have to go give her a flu shot so I'll ask her while I'm there to see what she knows. And I'll keep and eye out!

If I am not related to them, and IF you have more info to add, I might transfer. So often I transfer a memorial and "nothing" is added to it and so what is the reason?? I am happy to add anything you wish. Thanks, Nan

I think that is right. I can't remember now how we are related, may be thru his wife. He has 3 children: Natasha, Jay, & Nadia. I went to school with them & I know we are connected thru the Reeves side. We knew we were cousins when we were little. I checked the Fairview cemetery listing first because I know they live nearby and thats where most of my Reeves relatives are buried.
|Erin Antley||RE: Edit|
That's what I was thinking. My kin folks with the last name of Pickel (what few are left) live in that Conway area. I looked through several of the local listings but couldn't find anything. I do know that there are several lost cemeteries in the Cherry Ridge area. There is a lot of wooded property owned by private owners and timber companies and some of those cemeteries are just so far back that is hard to get to them. When my husband was cutting timber, he always tried to be very careful around burials but I know that he is the exception to the rule. Most skidder and shear operators don't have a lot of finesse and run over things because they don't know what they are looking for. I will keep an eye open for these graves. You never know when you might stumble upon one of them!

I have been up to the cemetery several times to look for this grave and I just haven't come up with anything. I am up there a lot for research projects and photos, so I will keep looking. I have tried looking for his grave among other area cemeteries and still nothing. The Pickel and the Reeves families have common relatives--I have a couple of distant cousins who are Pickels. So I also checked online archives of local cemeteries that are in the vicinity of the Pickel families that I know and no luck there either. I expect that they are buried in the Farmerville City Cemetery but I can't say for certainty where. Hope you are well!
|Peachy Pringle||Hoggatts - New Headstones|
You may remember the HOGGATT headstone in Mulberry Street Cemetery which is so new that bits of shipping paper are still stuck to it in the photo.
Apparently someone in the Hoggatt family has been adding new stones to the Hoggatt graves in Amite. The HOGGATT stone of Mary Beatrice, Mary Etta, and William Shelton is new enough that it was not included on the 1998 and 2000 transcriptions. It is, however, on the 2006 list posted at the Cemetery.
The headstone of Velma Lee Hoggatt and John J. Jr. GOLMON is so new that it is not on the 2006 list. We did however find and photograph it.
That just leaves William S. "Willie" Hoggatt 1910-1993 .... we could not find him. He is not on the 2006 list. That does not mean that he is not in Amite Cemetery, it just means that me and my husband could not find him. Perhaps if you make a request for his photo, some of the younger Find-A-Gravers will find him.
Hoggatt is an interesting name. Is it German?
|Peachy Pringle||RE: Amite Cemetery|
Found everyone but Willie. More later.
